Installing engins & consists
I bought a CD some years ago called "Trains de nuit" which is basically some SNCF overnight sleeper stock. The question I have, is whether it is possible to install from the CD into a specific route/activity so that if I want to use any on the consists they can be found more easily than searching all the way through the Consist or Trainset folders. I guess like most of us here, I have a large number of of engines/consists etc, and I think it might be the proverbial "Needle in haystack" to try and find these newly installed trains. If I cannot install direct into a route, how do I place them into an activity? Obviously through the activity editor I unstall a route to work on, but what do I then need to do in order to find and place the relevant trains. I hope this makes sense!!! Please let me know if it does not!!!

Re: Installing engins & consists
You install the trains into your sim.
You then build consists (if they're not already supplied) by using MSTS Consist Editor (see http://msts.steam4me.net/tutorials/consists.html), Convoi or Route Riter's Consist Editor.
These consists are then available for use in "Explore" mode on any route you have installed. You can also create activities using these consists (see Michael Sinclair's tutorial at http://msts.steam4me.net/tutorials/inde ... activities).
I'm sure someone will jump in here extolling the virtues of TrainStore for removing unwanted consists from view when getting ready to run a given train in order to minimise your list of trains to pick from.

Re: Installing engins & consists
Hi Dadorail
All stock must be installed in the Trainset folder if you want to use the stock either in explore or in an activity.
I understand your percieved problem, but sadly there is no other why round it.
Once the stock is installed a consist will need to be created, then the consist can be used as a standalone (explore) or as part of a created activity (Traincfg) in the service files.
Initially using the Activity Editor to create a consist/s and/or the service files for an activity.
Thereafter any consist can be manually replaced with another in any activity by replacing the Traincfg ( consist name ) in the associated service files in the Services folder for any given route.
Kindest regards
Ray
