Cant move train after loading a saved game

Post by mstsrocks »

Hello.
i have a problem with train sim that when i load up a saved game on any route it wont let me drive again the track monitor shows 1.$ MPH and plays a random noise like the train has derailed when it has not. :-? then when i exit the saved game it comes up with error's saying (whatever consist i use).wag error on line 67 (and other random lines which dont even exsist in .wag's).

This only started happening after i downloaded a southern 423 VEP and edit the wag file to set up a passenger view. i also uninstalled MSTS bin and re installed the latest version.

Any help is appreciated :)

Hi Simon,
How did you uninstall the Bin Patch?
Did you use the Uninstall file in the Train Simulator folder?
Did the MSTSBINBackup folder delete itself?
When you installed the 'new' Patch did you remember to Copy/Paste the correct String.dll's into the Train Simulator folder?

Check those things first.

Then come back

Good luck
Doug

hi Doug.
When i uninstalled MSTS bin i used the uninstaller in the MSTS folder.

the uninstaller does delete the "MSTSBIN_BACKUP"

copy the "string .dll's" not quite sure here as i have never had to copy paste any thing just let the .exe do the job???? :-?

Thanks

That's all OK. :D

The readme tells you to Copy/Paste the Translated DLLs for your country/language.

Do you 'Run' downloads from websites or 'Save' the files to a temp place on your PC?
It is always best to 'Save' them.
1. You do not have to acsess the site if you need them again.
2.They can be checked and instructions read before you use them
3.When the Saved downloaded Zip is extracted you will have the readmes and a manual.
Really just good practice.

The string.dll files are in Train Simulator/Translated DLLs/EN, there are two just copy them into the Train Simulator Folder to replace those there.

Come back

Good luck

Hi doug.
the answer to the above is i always run them.

OK have just copied and pasted the 2 .dll's from the "EN" folder into the train sim folder then loaded up train store and selected the route and consist i wanted i then loaded up a new explore route then i saved it, exited it and then re loaded the save i did but still have the 1.$ on the track monitor there is no sounds coming from the train aswell as not moving. :(

Thanks

Hi Simon,
Running an EXE file from a means you can not change the item suit to your MSTS. I.E. It may may have chain coupilgs and you use auto as standard.
If you Save. Install away from MSTS. You can do what you like before it goes into MSTS.

Which loco/consist.
Was it the 423 VEP mentioned at the start of the thread?
It was suggested this could be the problem.

Don't test with an unknown. Using the above system means nothing goes into MSTS that does not work.
Use something you know works OK.

Come back
Good luck

Hi Doug.
it has been happening since i installed the southern 423 VEP yes, also i created the consists so it was an 8 car unit also using just the front leading locomotive to enable MSTS bin to cab swap properly. using the london south coast route it first happened when i stopped at little haven then i saved it to as i got bored at this point then later i loaded it back up and i got the problem where i couldn't move. so i thought ah lets try a different route and different unit. so i loaded up dorset coast V6 and the SWT 442 wessex electric then i drove for a little bit then saved it then exited then reloaded and the same problem occurred (which never happened before. which is why I'm confused.

Yes. You said you did that.!

The Advice about Saving downloads rather than Running them is general to all downloads. So you have the oppertunity to look at them first and you have a Backup.

No! not necessary! That could have been one of the reasons for the failure.

Hi Simon,
STOP

Can you get back to where you were before the problem.
Delete the Consists you made. From Trains/Consists.
Move The 423 VEP From Trains/Trainset onto your Desktop.
If you made an activity delete that from the route.
Uninstall MSTSBin as before.
'Unstore everything' in Classic Train Store.
Click Routes in Classic Train Store, Click Store selected routes click 'GO'

Now choose an act from a default route unstore it and see if it runs OK.

If it does reinstall MSTSBin as per the readme.
Click Routes in Classic Train Store, Click Store selected routes click 'GO'

Now choose the same act you chose above and see if that runs and the F4 track monitor displays properly.

Come back
Good luck

I have a feeling that the 1$ problem with speed limits is Bin patch related. There were a lot of similar issues a while back, but i think they were fixed by a subsequent release. Which version of the bin patch are you using?

Hi Simon,
This is Good. :D
Although I said a Default Route that means one of the original 6 MSTS routes.
However. From where you are.
That error means you need MSTSBin as that loco is set up to use it.

Now follow the rest of my post.

Then report back.

Good luck.
