Try this press S until you get to 30%, release brakes. slowley press D if it still doesn't move just press S again, once moving press C to close cylnder cocks, now gradualy increase speed by pressind D at the same time start to bring back the cut off by pressing shift and S at the same time.

It's then a matter of jugling the regulator and the cutoff when running, best to run it with the AI fireman.Don't forget steam loco's run different to electric or diesels.

hello thanks for the reply but still after doing what you said to do i have the same problem using the 35028 locomotive the wheels spin but stays on the spot and wont move. I tried it on the Golsdorf 380 locomotive and it works fine. could it be a .eng problem?

thanks

Hi mstsrocks???
Welcome to the forms. :D
Sorry I missed your name. :(

As downloaded this loco runs fine (out of the box) as of 10mins ago.
A little more info please.

Are you running light engine? If not what do you have coupled up?

Come back

Good luck
Doug

hello thanks. i dont know why i put my username as this i just didnt know what to use lol i'm not known for decent names anyway :P

Ok. i edited the .eng file to change the coupling type from bar to automatic so i could couple it up to the default Venice Simplon orient express carriages. i used the one of the default consists from the orient express (after clicking the use as template button) all ready then i removed the golsdorf loco which was all ready the leading stock so i swapped it with clan line and clan lines tender then i also added the EWS class 67006 onto the rear of the Venice Simplon coaches so it could be a diesel loco hauled unit as well then i loaded it up and when i press F9 to open the consist screen thing i swap to 67006 then once it has cab swapped the clan line shows up as hand break is switched on so when i am driving with 67006 it takes a while to get up to speed.

but then when i swap back to clan line it shows as the hand break is not on but then when i set it all up to drive the all the wheels on clan line move around except the front four small wheels. i also tried light loco by disconnecting all the coaches and the trailing EWS 67 the same happens when its light loco but when i am driving from 67006 all the wheels are moving on clan line.

so could it be to do with me editing the coupling section?

Hi mstsrocks,
Your username can be whatever you like. :D Most of us on here like to reply with First Names it's more friendly. But thats your choice.

It is unlikely the coupling change would cause a brake problem.
However, the Orient Express Rake used is Air Braked, Clan Line is Vacuumn Braked.

How is EWS 67006 set up? I think that is Air Braked/Automatic coupling as well.
You may be able to Uncouple this consist but it will not recouple.
If you changed the Bar coupling in the Clan Line.eng file that is the one between loco and tender. To change the Engine to train Coupling do the Chain coupling on the tender *****.wag file

I guess you are using MSTSBin from your refrence to Cab Swapping. Do you realise that when you swap Cabs with MSTSBin all the controls are zeroed and have to be selected again. So the Handbrake/Loco Brake will be on.

In a case like this. It is advisable to check each item in turn to find the problem.
If you have the Clan Line Downloaded File backedup. Reinstall it over the one you have. Overwriting all files when asked.

Make a Consist of Clan LIne, light engine, and check that in Explore Mode.

Then Download a Set of Pullman coaches from UKTS

will do.
Before installing them check the *****wag files and change the couplings if necessary.
Or if you have 'The Southern Railway' from Just Trains use the Pulmans in that
Then make a Consist with those and Clan Line.

Then check the Cl 67**** and amend to match the train.

That is enough to be going on with :-? 8)
Come back and let us know how you get on.

Good luck
Doug

hello. sorry i was tired last night and didn't really know what you meant last night, my first name is Simon.

back to topic i have deleted the full rake orient express coaches consist then deleted the 35028 folder from the TRAINSET folder then lucky enough i had a backup in the recycle bin on the desktop which was lucky :) so i reinstalled 35028 then did what you said to do which was run it as a light loco as i loaded it up then there we had it it started moving and you are correct the EWS 67 does use automatic coupling as well as it uses "air single pipe" breaking.

i will download the pull man coaches tomorrow.

thank you for the advice\help and the ukts file id's

Simon

Hi Simon.
Hey, no need to apologise. Funny I get tired too. Don't know what causes it :D

As you seen quite happy opening files and changing them to suit.
Try this. Install any download into a Folder without MSTS in it. With ''use folder names' ticked in WinZip.
You can then make the download suit your prefrence. I.E. Couplings, Sound, even Cabs. Then transfer the Folders to the correct places in MSTS.
You also then have an automatic back up of the download. If any files need 'Repairing'.

Take your time.
Come back

Good luck
Doug

Hi
When using Bin, different couplings can cause the barkes to not release.
If you press F5 four times you can read the brake pressures through out the train.
Interestingly I found by accident , that if you make a steam loco vacuum braked but the tender airbraked, it seems to release both types of train brakes under Bin.
Cheers
Jon

Hi Jon,

That would point to Simon's original problem.

Those barkes can be a real dog to control. :D   8) :-? Sorry. You know me by now. WOOF!
