Tetbury Buildings

Whether it's a simple house, a small bush, a station, a phone box, a sheep or any other piece of scenery here's where you can talk with others building them. Scenery is often also a great place for beginners to start out their 3D modelling hobby before moving on to more complex items such as Locomotives.

Tetbury Buildings

Post by karma99 »

Going to post up a few pics of the custom buildings I'm making for stuart666's Tetbury-Kemble GWR branchline over the next few weeks.

Really nice work !! - love the detail. - keep the screenshots coming.

I've found the big problem for me is not making a building with lots of detail but making the textures to a reasonably good standard. I can make a model in a few days - then it takes me weeks to texture them.

Cheers

You can still visit the original version if you live in the South Glos area, though admittedly it no longer looks as nice as Petes excellent model. :( I kinda wish somebody like Didcot would buy it and do something with it. Where it is, it gets vandalised all the time.

Thanks chaps, appreciate the comments :)

And I have to agree Paul, I find the unwrapping and texturing the hardest part, although I think I'm finally getting a vague handle on it.. we shall see :-?

Thanks Joe
I started Saturday evening and got it to the point of those pictures late Sunday so probably about 14 hours in total - I had the house to myself so was able to do nothing but model and eat snacks all weekend :D

Ah nice modelling Pete. No doubt your work flow will get streamlined as you progress with each model. Good luck with it.

Quick render with some base textures down, need weathering and such (although the roof is nicely slime streaked) but we're getting there :)

All done! :)
Going to take a break from buildings and persure my other project a bit further, then time for the station and engine shed.

Final renders

Looks great !!! - I was surprised to see blue-brick textures - I was expecting a red-brick structure.

Wonderful model - really captures the "feeling" of such a railway building.

Thanks Paul. I've been fortunate that Stuart has provided not only scale building plans but also copies of photos and some text, which pointed me to the blue brick construction.
In fact I've learnt loads making this shed.. not least, before last week I'd have said a brick, was a brick, was a brick! Now I know better :)
