Custom Content & Support

Hi Everyone,
Here are some answers to questions from other threads that I thought would be good to discuss seperately.
Will Rail Simulator allow custom content, and can it be made available for free?
Absolutely, we want to encourage the creation and sharing of content for Rail Simulator. We hope that places such as http://www.uktrainsim.com http://www.train-sim.com and many other world wide train simulation sites will continue to support the sharing of content for Rail Simulator just as they have for previous simulations.
Will support be provided for Rail Simulator, outside the current ‘Select Band’?
I would like to confirm there is no ‘select band’ of developers working with us. Our primarily focus has been to complete the game and the overhead of supporting a large community of add-on developers in parallel would have distracted us from this goal.
However, external developers clearly provide valuable feedback on the usability of the development tools, so we compromised by involving a small number of third party developers (less than 10). These third parties have had to accept the instability in working with incomplete code (development is still in progress after all), and the occasional need to rework previously completed efforts. All of these 3rd party teams approached Rail Simulator of their own accord, and while it is true that many of these developers are from commercial outfits, there were never any precondition.
Once Rail Simulator is released, it is obvious that many more developers may be seeking support and we are currently finalising the support structure for the game. We are extremely enthusiastic about growing the development community and have great plans for the future of the Rail Simulator franchise.
Cheers
