What will the system spec be for this sim

The Rail Simulator forum was very busy leading up to the UK release on October 12th 2007, this is a read-only copy of those discussions for historic and review purposes.

Hi johncas,
KujuAdam wrote:The final minimum specific will be announced when the game is finished, however, requirement will be well within ‘normal’ configurations. Providing you have a reasonably good graphics card (Nvidia 7*** series or above) you should be okay.

Cheers

That's a fairly silly spec TBH.
A 6600/6800 will BATTER a 7200, likewise a 7800 will embarass an 8200.
The first number only denotes the GPU generation, it's the last 3 digits that give the indication of relative power.

Please bear in mind before rushing out to buy "bargin" 7200's and suddenly finding you've actually downgraded.

The only reason for stating "7***" is that the game possibly needs that generation of GPU's shader support.

Bandwidth and fillrate are the important scores. As you can see, a 6800 is approx 10 X faster than a 7200!

Well pointed out, what Adam said was highly misleading.

He should have specified the second digit ie. 76** or 78** as the budget models in the 7*** range would be unlikely to run KRS except at the lowest settings and even then possibly struggle.

Just a sidenote, memory bandwidth & pixel pipelines would also be a factor to look at,the less pipelines on your card, the slower the performance, same as memory bandwidth.

I'm not going to be worried about the spec for KRS until there is a confirmed release date.

Sorry. Don't get it :-?

Minimum = Recommended ???

Just goes to show there's a lot of hot air and nothing quite concrete.

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS
OS: Windows Vista
Purely for DX10 content that the game may / may not have, and also a way for Microshaft to 'Pimp' a product that nobody really needs... (at the moment  )
