Kuju Please don't give us......
I recently purchased TRAINZ 2006 and was very impressed with route building and the trains....then I discovered the Content manager program and the download station...........Kuju please don't ruin your product with something like that, awful. I hope that sites such as this one are well supported by KRS. Thumbs up for UKTrainsim!

Whats awful about free hosting for content? I admit Content Manager is rubbish, thats due to Auran rushing TRS2006, but the DLS is great, there are some real gems on there.markjudith wrote:I recently purchased TRAINZ 2006 and was very impressed with route building and the trains....then I discovered the Content manager program and the download station...........Kuju please don't ruin your product with something like that, awful. Nothing is awfull about free content........trouble is I can't get it, right now I'm on the cmp and have been for a couple of hours, I have a favourite US content creator and I'm trying to get the thumbnails of his work, search is still telling me that there are no previews available, they are there cos I got a couple of locos yesterday after 6 hours of trying. Searching for TRS stuff seems naff eg boxcars I got 2 out of presumably hundreds. I can go to this site and find easily what I want in seconds and get it very quickly. Im just saying that I hope Kuju dont give us CMP or a search facility such as the one TRAINZ employs. I prefer to play with my trains rather than spend all night wondering how or if I can get them!
One problem of the DLS is created by the content creators themselves. Many of them don't manage to tag the files correctly, i.e. specify the right country, the right category and to add a description that is helpful or even contains some keywords that can be searched as well as a picture (which was required in former times, btw.). Kuju can't solve this problem neither.

I agree
Yes thats true!
My problem is that, I still havent got any listings in my search I'm still waiting since my first post for a list of models by a particular author, it does work , it did yesterday but not today? Unreliable to say the least.

Well, I read qualitiy assurance for third-party content several times and I always hoped that this will refer to freeware on their server, too. Of course not control in the sense of approving of its look but in the sense of it being technically correct, which includes documentation (such as giving the correct type or class and reference to prototype.

Yes, I have SP1, only had the the sim for a week so I have much learning to do. If I get a wagon for example and look at it's missing dependancies, drag those into the download helper it finds them straight away, so I think it's just the search side of things that isn't performing as it should, and of course the occasional hang up on the net. The Trainz forum is littered with unhappy users having problems with CMP/DLS.
As for the sim itself, well It's brilliant, absolutley I've made a small route of my own and run a couple of coal trains on it and really enjoyed it. I've noticed that KRS are utilising similar ideas for their product, if they make it as good as this it will be great won't it!
