FAQ Questions: Suggestions wanted

A few other suggestions:
Train failures - When driving the HST and Deltic, one of the engines shut down occasionally or other failures.
To have a fully functioning cab at both ends of the locomotives and each end of the HST set.
For one of the TBA locomotives to be a class 47 as they are the most numerous main line diesel and are suited to both the more modern British routes announced.

- Does commercial development require a paid license?
- If a paid commercial license is required, is it per title, or a blanket applied to the developing company?
- If a paid commercial license is required, is a royalty to be paid on top of this?
- If a paid commercial license is required, are there any added benefits to having one?
- How much would the commercial license initially cost?

Those questions you should directly ask Kuju managment or representative, although I think they will stronlgy support Third Party developers of any kind and especially those which were in past heavily involved in MSTS 2 project like you and your team.

Certainly these things are discussed under the blanket most of the time. But considering the repeated payware debates here on this forum and the fact that the question is already on the table (initiated by a business report from Kuju) a bit of open communication would be a nice trait. They could still give special discounts to important partners in secret, that's just normal business, but some frank info for the aspiring payware author and his enviers should only have postive impact.

The image in the movie shows a square grid tho a close look shows at least one "square" with all four corners on different levels so the squares must be a made up from a pair of triangles. Size isn't given but a comparison to an adjacent building suggests the square sides are not much different than MSTS... a bit smaller perhaps, like 5-6m long. Hard to say for sure.(1) What kind of mesh is used for terrain (e.g., triangles) and what is its smallest poly size?
This is based on my observation. What they use is a bilinear function within each square in that grid, meaning that the shape varies quadratically along the diagonal of the square and becomes linear towards the square edges. So it is a little bit smoother than having to put two triangular flat surfaces togeather.Quote:

Hi,
This product sounds like its going to be really good, but there are a few things that MSTS lack, and I would like to see a Sim with all of these combined. Like the Following:

- The ability to have the Train Sim equivalent of 'Flexi Track'
The ability to make hills in a simple and effective way
The ability to have a oval of track

That's a very good question - as without the facility to control the doors on passenger stock, you cannot fully simulate DOO (Driver Only Operation) routes...dfisher1 wrote:Will the doors on modern trains be fully controlable by the player or will they be opended and closed automatically by the program?

A few of my own questions I'd like to see in the FAQ (with answers
)
Is there a facility to merge routes? E.g. "I'm building a route through my local town and it shares stations with Route X at one end, and route Y at the other. Will there be means to join the three to make one larger route?"
Does the sim support superelevation, cab sway and tilt?
Can we mix electrified and non-electried tracks? Does the pantograph track the height of the wire?
Can tunnel lining be defined within the sim or will new shapes need to be created?

So you are saying if the questions are not included in the FAQ then this thread is not fun ?Are these questions actually going to be answered and included in the FAQ section or is this thread a bit of fun?
Seriously, the answer is yes. I'd like to see what folks want to know most while they wait for KRS. The plan is to include all the questions, and hopefully answers will appear over time, as has mostly happened up to now. Sort of food for thought for press releases or newsletters or whatever.
Now that the current FAQ holes are mostly 'filled', I want to capture more questions.
Go on, take a gamble, ask a question & see if it will be answered ...

This one is already answered: Yes "Superelevation is supported (track banking). " (See C1 of the FAQ)Does the sim support superelevation,
Ditto from C8. "Are lines both with and without caternary supported in one route ? What about different gauges in one route ?Can we mix electrified and non-electried tracks?
Yes. Electrifications within a single route can be mixed and matched (none, overhead, 3rd and 4th rails)... "
2 answers, 5 to go.
