Launch date of new Train Sim

The Rail Simulator forum was very busy leading up to the UK release on October 12th 2007, this is a read-only copy of those discussions for historic and review purposes.

Launch date of new Train Sim

Post by gary1 »

Firstly apologises if this is announced elsewhere but have carried out a search and can't find the info.

An obvious question really.... When is the launch date or even an expected/provisional date for launch of the new sim, would be very interested.

Are there any plans to incorporate some form of on-line connection between users of the new sim. I use flightsim on-line quite often and it really brings the whole sim to life.

thanks Gary

Hi Gary! Welcome to the forums!

From what i know, Kuju Rail Sim should be released sometime next year,(2006) as a guess. I would have thought maybe autumn or Winter next year. :D

Thanks for the info, it seemed to be missing from their website. Hopefully should be a good improvement on the current Tsim.

Any ideas if it will be interactive over the inet similar to the way flightsim works? I hope so could be very interesting.

It is quite certain that multi-player will not be included in version 1, but is seriously considered for further versions.

Many people demand it but it takes some effort to implement.

It looks a lot better than MSTS from where im standing! :D

But you have to remember that MSTS has been out for about 5 years (ish) so it is very outdated. You have to admit, at the time, the graphics for train sim looked amazeing! Funny how things move on! :D

I Agree with you Andis! I think its certain, a package, or add-on will be released after Version 1 is released, and the package would include Multiplayer, and possibly some extra features with it. The reason i would have thought, is that not everybody is interested in Multiplayer, therefore a waste of money for some people.

Reading between the lines of what some contributors to KRS-2006 and TMTS are saying, it would appear to be reasonable to assume that the next E3 show in May 2006 could be the platform to launch them or at least show some extensive previews of them.

I am putting it down as a Christmas list item.. I can't seeing it done much before.. unless you want something still 'beta' as was the first sim.. (due to 'outside' pressure most probably.. ).
We all want it sooner rather than later... but I want it better rather than sooner.. :D

I also expect it will be the end of the year before we get a new sim.

If everyone's expections are met, I wouldn't like to say which year :)

At the same time, Otto is right for sure that both new sims will do their best in impressing the general audience at E3.

For TMTS there is still some hope to see it in late summer, because then it would have most of the attention while before Christmas the bigger marketing machine of EA might take most of the consumers' attention.

Hi
I think you'll find TMTS release date has already been set.
Whether there might be a small ammount of slipage, remains to be seen.
I've always assummed KRS would be a 2007 release. I based this on a 18 months development, when it was first announced June 2005

Well, June 2005 plus 18 month = Christmas 2006. I agree that 18 month is not much for such a program, but there will be a lot of pressure to sell it for Christmas, be it as a preorder. ;-)

As for TMTS, I know about the current official date, but it was end of March not so long before. And for a product to be in the shelves in 6 month, I would expect more noise, like announcements who does all the other routes etc. This does not mean that getting TMTS in March would not have been my favourite way to wait for KRS, but as I see it it is not going to happen.

And learning two sims at the same time will really blow your head off. Plus you need a Sabatical or so (from your job and your family).

Different companies have different ways.
I'm sure there will be announcements when necessary.
However I note, this is the Kuju forum.
