Hi,
My first post in here, Hi to all MSTS lovers.
I'm curious to know if it will be possible to add trainz models to the Kuju simulator?
Thanks

I don't think theres a need to, with Trainz getting a new incarnation every year ( or day at the current rate

;) ) there'll be no need, as there'll always be something to run Trainz locos in

Hi, I am also new (just registered).
I think it is unlikely that Trainz locomotives and carriages will run on KRS. It is much more likely that MSTS assets will run. However, I believe that Kuju will also support GMax for their new product, so if the sources are available, it is not unlikely that TRS stuff can be ported to KRS.
Speaking of Trainz: Despite the sparse information available about KRS, it seems to me that Kuju is thinking out of the box. I wonder to which extent we will see proven concepts like content management and scripting. Despite the imminent release of TRS2006, I have the feeling that the development of Trainz does no longer make real progress. As their next generation product "RSP" is even more vaporware than KRS (sorry), KRS may become a real alternative.

Hi
I'd just wonder if there are any models anyone would want to 'port over' from Trainz.
Cheers

There's an amazing Voyager on this website:

The Passenger View and opening doors are a nice touch

Theres plenty of good models in trainz but I dont want to start a trainz versus MSTS argument.
If Kuju plan on allowing the use of gmax then hopefully trainz models can be converted.
Thanks

If Kuju publish their file format, which they hinted they might, there is a good chance a converter may get written by someone who knows the TRS format. In much the same way as the MSTS to TMTS conversion.
However, the TRS format of using multiple models is unlike most of the other sims, so it may be a complex process.

A converter from TRS to TMTS would appear a good idea
TRS modellers are familiar with bump mapping and far more sophisticated modelling techniques particularly as regards texturing.
The more modellers working with TMTS the better.
Less competition in KRS

Only the original creators themselves may convert material from one simulator to another or give someone else the permission to do so.

Converting models would have to be done the original authors as they have the source files. Wouldn't have thought all advanced features could be added to old models without a rebuild.
Any form of compatibility is a ball and chain and I'd guess it won't be required.
It's more of a concern more for commercials as people may not buy stuff which will be obsolete within months. The idea that we'll continue with the old sims if put forward to offset that.
In practice any new sim after 4 years is hopefully going to be so improved, MSTS will be like FS98. Still used as that's what they're used and won't change for anyone
