I've noticed a couple of requests on animated passengers, and animated doors etc. I know how that can drain the program, so I'd be happy with just static passengers.

My request, is Re: Wires and the gantries. The one thing I dislike on MSTS is a choice of having wires or no wires! Let's face it, it doesn't look real having overhead wires on a non-electrified line, or gantries and no wires on an electrified line!

In the Trainz series electrified lines had gantries and wires, non-elec lines had no gantries and no wires, made it more real!

Simple request, but very effective! :)

However in Trainz wires are just there as part of the scenery, they actually do nothing.

i am sorry but the work done so far is no way a waste of time.
are you saying that no-one ever uses this 'exellent work' quote]

My point is that without reverse compatability past work will be wasted beyond its use in the present sim version.

Unlike the MSTS wires which actually power the stock ?

One thing which has not been mentioned, and which was not included in MSTS is that I hope Kuju will include some means of compacting routes for distribution so that they can easily be uploaded on the web.

I have spent the last 4 years working on Route-Riter to overcome the limitations of the previous product, and would hope that they will be able to provide the same functionality from within their package this time. I am getting too old to have to go through all that again.

A simple option in the Route-Editor to compact the route and zip it up ready for distribution would be a great option.

How about animated gangways, couplings and brake hoses/connections that really connect when coupled to another carriage/wagon! And maybe buffers that really squeeze in!

Just a thought! 8)

I see quite a few comments here about passengers and doors.

In many countries the main task of railways is to carry freight from one location to another. That is why they exist and how they generate sufficient revenue to continue in operation.

If we are talking about a true "simulation" I would suggest that one essential component is rolling stock that can be loaded and unloaded.

I think the one Real problem that needs to be resolved when making this new sim by Kuju is this.....

A good engine to drive the sim with out slowing down on frame rates!
we need to getaway from the stutter which is caused by the sim reading from the hard drive.

Except they don't  It's the global switch in config file of the route that powers the electric trains, the catenary is just part of scenery that gets drawn on these routes. Trainz is very close to this system, except its 'global switch' is always on and doesn't make the game automatically draw the wires.

Correctly done system would involve wires which can be placed over selectable tracks, and which would power up the electric trains on these track only. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if it came with a default HST - it is an iconic train...
But even if it's the default train, it would be better for a 3rd party to do another one...

Compare default Acela, Dash9 with 3rd party ones... ;)

I'd like to see the function of being able to have a pilot engine that would be able to self decouple and leave the train at a given stop, and also a banking engine that could fall away from the train at a set point, automatically on freight trains. I'd also love to see a linux version I'm sure this would be far better and more powerful than a windows version, but is anyone brave enough to start the ball rolling? maybe one day :-?
