Seaton Tramway

Sorry to dual post on here and on the General forum. Just to post that I am so taken by Richard Scott's tram model and to support his efforts, I'm thinking about taking a time-out from my Far North route to produce a "quickie" tram layout on which to run it and any other trams. Thinking about basing it on Seaton, relaid to standard gauge and with some recycled items from my Blackpool route. However I want to confirm no one else is contemplaing this route before I start spending time on it.

I was building the route with trains on it (rather than trams). But I ran out of steam when i posted a couple of pictures of the first couple of miles and noone bothered to acknowledge it (noone wants it, shan't bother then...).
I doubt it would save much effort, but I could send you my markers & DEM files if you haven't got such information already.

hi, sorry you felt this way about your route but i think route creators should be building routes they want not what others want, i would like to see a tram route to give the sim a bit of diversity, so i say go ahead with it, its your hobby and your time so do what you want,
cheers
Gav

I already did a DEM extraction and markers, but thanks for offering.
One slight constraint is that the "All Track" rule only allows min radius down to 100m which is not quite sharp enough for the curves past the holiday camp, but it shouldn't look too far amiss.

It sounds like it is time you learned how to create your own track rule! Unfortunately I haven't done one myself so I am currently unable to help.

If you specify the details I would be happy to create a specific Track Rule for you. If you could list of the following:
- The relevent track typess you want (if you want ones other that defualt kuju ones, I'll need more info)
- The track type the rule defaults to, from the list above
- The default line type (Main Line / Yard / Passenger / Freight)
- Default Primary & Secondary speed limits (I imagine 10 or 15mph?)
- Distance between track centers for parallel track
- Minimum curvature, and whether you want different values for different track types
- Whether you want the modern or historic junction lever

Just to update - Adam's kind offer responded too in the "Tram" thread on the general board. Still pending collation of information for the track rule at which point construction will commence!

You'd need a tight track rule, some nice curves on there shortly after leaving Axminister.

the same rule nearly could be used for the Manchester metrolink. And could there be just the rails when you lay it?

Good luck Vern! Should be fairly easy to, hope you don't get bored of all those fields.

Though converting it to standard gauge is a good idea, like you say it means making less trams and using standard ones, though people at shows may spot the difference!
Take care!
Cheers,
Mike
