Guys,
Has anyone come across this? I'm editing my marker files from Google Earth (the KML) in Excel, and when i open it, I find that Excel changes some of the values, so my markers are in the same place - i.e. they have the same Lat and Long. Can anyone shed any light on why this is, or suggest an alternative? Bearing in mind I have a 100+ mile route and editing markers by hand would be barmy!

Re: KML Editing / Excel problems
As I don't have excel (or indeed any of MS office), I tried opening those KML files with open office. Sadly that didn't work very well. Or indeed at all.
So does Mike Simpson's program have that ability to skip the excel stage? (And what program do I need to download for that?)

Try changing the property of the cells in Excel. It may be that the cells are defaulting to a set figure after the decimal, while the marker co-ordinates have more decimal places.
Re: KML Editing / Excel problems
Don't think its an Excel setting, I played with the cell type and decimal length and it didn't matter, they were still identical co-ords.
Arabiandisco - RS Tools has a function to make marker files directly from the kml, I don't normally use third party tools (not because they aren't good, but because I learn more by manual coding) but in this instance it saves a hell of a lot of work. I'm just waiting for the addition of the feature that allows you to make terrain decals from the jpg's you can save
