Possible - Bishop Auckland to Saltburn

I have really been getting into Rail Simulator recently and have started to learn the editor a lot more. I am seriously thinking about doing the Bishop Auckland to Saltburn route and have done the track in and around Darlington station to reflect the modern day layout. I shall see how far I can get with it in my spare time and hopefully release it, ideally when there is more relevant stock that can be used on the route.

Hope that link works, I am rubbish at displaying screenshots.

This could become a reality if I can maintain the speed of trackbuilding. I am currently as far North West as North Road but as far South East as Allens West with all platforms in place.

good luck with your project mate, dont want to dampen things but i find its usually scenery that slows things down, usually find its better to lay a few miles of track then look at creating the scenery, otherwise you could lay a hundred miles of track then find the thought of decorating all that quite daunting

cheers

Gav

Have thought about that mate, have gone as far as Eaglescliffe and now thinking about filling in the scenery so far.

It's best not to have spaces in filenames that you upload to the Atomic Albums, but if you do then you need to replace each space with %20 to get it to work, so the working code for the above is as follows:

Code: Select all

Just need a pacer to run on it. There was mention of one a while back but that seemed to die a death.

Btw, today darlington does not have a second track running adjacent to platform 1, it's now single track through plats. 1 and 4.

EDIT: After looking into images taken by a friend, i would like to apologies for the above comment it is wrong. Gav is right.

Platform 1 does have another line Darpor has made it correct it's used for storage such as if a train brakes down it get's moved there.

This is a photo from a few months ago when a crosscountry train spilt fuel and was moved onto the line after coming in on platform 1.

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated. Like I said originally, it is currently just a possible project but I have really enjoyed working on it so far so it could well become a reality. Hopefully tonight after work I am going to complete the North Road to Bishop Auckland section and then fill in some scenery with screenshots to follow.

Last night, I also steadily drove a 2 car 166 from Darlington to Eaglescliffe replicating the speed limits and arrived at Eaglescliffe only 1 down so if driven properly on a Pacer, it could be timed correctly.

I have had another couple of hours tonight, trackwork nearly to Thornaby in one direction and Heighington in the other where I decided to start some scenery work.

Also, initial draft of trackwork at Eaglescliffe

My route is Bishop Auckland to;

Shildon
Evenwood
Hunwick
Coundon
Wear Valley
WearHead - This section is the longest that follows the river wear to Burnhope resevoir.

I am basing the station/route as it was before 1960.
My main focus is the Bishop Auckland station and the hub it once was.
Hopefully the area will be taken to a detail level yet to be seen in RS.

Funny enough someone else is making the bishop Auckland branch line.
