Struggling with setting my "world" up

Hey all, hope you can help me - I'm trying to have a go at route building, and thought I'd start off small by doing a small part of the branch line from Cross Gates near Leeds that went to Wetherby. I live in the first village along the old line, so thought I'd have a stab and see where I got to.

I've been following the excellent instructions "a beginners guide to route preparation" and got to the point where I basically tried to get the route up and running. The guide says there'll be an issue in Vista, where it's all sky, but by checking the Kuju\RailSimulator box, and going back into the route, it all works. This is the bit that doesn't work for me, I've attached a screenshot of what I get, even though the box is ticked?

Can anyone help me out? Don't really want to fall at a hurdle before I've had chance to lay some track!!

Thanks in anticipation, Sq.

Well, with my limited experience, I'll try to solve your problem. Once you have loaded your assets, did you save your route, exited the route and re-entered it? Whenever I want to see "blue sky bug" disappear, I have to do that!

Hope it helps,
Chris

This would indicate also that you are not running the latest version of Rail Simulator. This is an early bug that was resolved by installing the free Upgrades from http://www.railsimulator.com

I am old bean, all patched up with MkI and MkII patches on, along with pretty much all the fixes from the website.

I've bought quite a few add ons that require MkII (inc. wagon packs) so I'm not sure how it could be this? Is there anything I can check to verify one way or the other?

Had a think about it, and thought I might have been running the old dev tools.Version of the install exe I had was 12-11-2007, which might have been my issue. So I've downloaded the latest ones off the RS website, uninstalled the old one, installed the new, not a jot of difference. I hope I'm not going to get the advice to re-install the whole thing again! Surely this can't be too difficult to fix???

Hi Squatch,

I had exactly the same problem & I found that it was because I had entered some slightly wrong data in the 'Template Routes\routeblueprint' section of Asset Editor. My problem was that for the 'Product' box of the Terrain Blueprint section (at the bottom of the form), I had entered 'RailSimulatorCore' rather than 'RailSimulator'. I then deleted the route from within Rail Simulator and started this part of the process. Why don't you double check this form, and then try again.

Hope this helps,

Jon

It looks to me like you're underground. Have you tried moving upwards to see if you can reach the surface?

Have you tried clicking on the squares to the right of RailSimulator on the black dialogue box to the right. A "tick mark" should appear (in green). Then, exit the game an start anew. Then, everything should be fine.

I guess, it is enough to make one tick. You seem to owns both versions (EU and US) of KRS. If you tick both, then users downloading your route might need to have both versions.

Ha ha, bless you, that's seemingly what it was, changed those settings, re-ticked the green tick and I have a flat green landscape - it doesn't seem to have my DEM data loaded up, but that might be because I haven't read far enough through the instructions yet. Thanks very much for your help, hopefully I can get this little project re-started.....

Cheers, Sq.

EDIT - realised I didn't have any sky! It is the Terrain blueprint that just needs to be RailSimulator (which now I've re read the instructions it does say) and I've pressed T and got some terrain - Thanks again for your help all
