Re: KRStool up

Gav, seems it didn't download the whole file. I'm looking at the scripts serving files and it seems not everyone is getting a complete file, will look into it as to why. Please try again if you haven't already, file should be about 350Kb.

Dick, try http://jkansoft.mine.nu/cgi-bin/jkansof ... o=2&aux3=3 - basically you need to edit the tree_ text file to specify a height range that's present in your route. So if your route runs between 200 and 500 meters height, then you'd set starty to 200 and endy to 500. Once you do this vegetation should appear. Good luck!

How does this new app work, and what are some basic instructions for operation?
Have a look at the "starty" and "endy" lines in the tree_*.txt - these determine the minimum and maximum elevation where trees will be placed. Once set, select just one tile from the center map display to test. Other values can be set according to the parameters listed on the Autogen Scenery page. :)
Cheers!

I'm running XP SP3 and .Net Framework 2.0 and have all the necessary permissions setup. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Has anybody got this working with XP yet or is it Vista only? I'm still having the same problems after re downloading the zip file.... :-?

Just downloaded, thank you, and will try it out soon.

Glad you overcame the looping problem.
What a pleasant, clean website design! Very nice.

Thanks :) hopefully it should be easy and helpful for those trying to use it.

For those who are still unable to get the file, looks like you are getting a connection reset halfway through the download. Not sure why as it only happens to some people but I figured I'd post the current version here: http://www.uploadcomet.com/download.php ... 0c1cf04adb (this is only as a backup, please try the main web site first as I'll be posting updates there). Hope this helps,

Hi jkxx, Any thoughts on the difficulty I've got running it under XP (see earlier posts)?

I downloaded KRSTOOL.zip and unzipped it to a folder called krstool and placed this folder in the Rail simulator folder structure.

Serz.exe is located in the RS root and system32, in fact all the requirements for windows xp users have been met as laid out on the JkaNsoft webpage for krstool. And instructions in the readme file have been followed!

I’m running a legit version of Rail Simulator with the DVD in the dvd drive!

And I’m getting this when I try to install krstool.exe…

Followed by this…

It’s such a pity, this tool looks like it might be a great help…

Hi, looks like you don't have the MK2 patch installed. Here's a workaround:

Open regedt32 through Run,

navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rail Simulator\Installation (if the Installation key doesn't exist, create it)
Find where it says "Default" in the right pane of Regedt32. Right-click and choose 'Modify', then put in the install path of KRS (Usually C:\Progra~1\Kuju\RailSimulator or similar for default install location). Close Regedt32.

When you reopen KRStool it should detect KRS without any problems.
Hi jkxx, Any thoughts on the difficulty I've got running it under XP (see earlier posts)?

Nick, were you able to download from the alternate site? This is a different server and should hopefully take care of problems people are experiencing downloading from the primary site.

Hi jkxx74, Downloading was no problem from both URLs. Downloaded zip file was 366kb size which I think is correct. Still getting the "krstool has encountered a problem and needs to close." message whichever download I use. I've unzipped to a new folder and removed the read only attributes. Serz.exe is present in both the Rail Simulator and system32 folders. I'm stuck :-? . With a whole forest to plant I was really looking forward to using this tool :( .

Hi,

looks a great utility. Exactly what I need. Trouble is, I'm getting the same error as Nick. All requirements are checked but the utility crashes on opening. Anything to do with XP and SP3?

Hi jkxx74, thanks for reply ... I have mk2 patch installed and my registry information as stated above is already correct regarding the whereabouts of my RS installation.

KRSTOOL for some reason chooses to not see my installation of Rail Simulator..

Help!

cheers

Nick, sounds like a crash which makes me wonder - have you been able to download from the other download site? Did the same error pop up? Would you mind taking a screenshot of any info that comes up when you get the error? Hopefully I can figure out what it is since it seems a few people are getting it.

Paul, not sure what's happening with your set up as I don't have XP or SP3. I would try running the program as an administrator (just log in that way under XP) to make sure your registry is visible and check if you have any utilities blocking access to the registry such as Spybot. Another thing is to check if you have the MK2 patch and the RsDevTools installed as at least one should set the correct registry key upon install. I hope at least one of these fixes resolves it for you.

Hi jkxx, I'm running XP with SP3 as an administrator. Followed all the instructions on your site and when I dobleclick on krstool.exe I get:

click on "What data etc etc" and get:

I looked at the content of the error report but couldn't select it to copy and send - it was all gibberish to me :) !

Look forward to your comments
