Are you going to make a cab for the 22s or have the same one as one already made? Also what sounds do you plan to use???

Labouring towards Portlaoise - still got over 8 miles of scenery to go - that's several hundred decals of 400 sq meters. On the positive side, this area of the route has good quality Google images. I also have to figure out how best to represent the area around the Curragh. (Is the station at the Curragh actually still used on race days?) On the 22000 class, I have left it aside for the present - I made one - very poor - attempt to model the bulbous nose for the A1 car. It ended up almost impossible to texture correctly. It has so many curves going in different directions and although I have the drawings, its very difficult to see where they begin and end. I may pose a question on how best to approach modelling such a shape on the 3DCanvas site. There are, unfortunately, also some inaccuracies in the drawings as compared to photos of the real train - for example, the headlights are set too high in the drawings as compared with the real thing. I'll be in Ireland in the summer and I will need to study the cab area in more detail. But the priority for now is to get the route done an d I am focusing on that in the hope I can still make my July target date.

Great to hear that moranb, there curragh is not used anymore it would be a safety hazard to use those platforms, in terrible state and far too low!

Lads this is prob a stupid question but...
Wil this project be playable on "Railworks" ?

I see no reason why it shold not, but the issue for me is if it if I do port it to RW will it be 'backward compatible' with RS becasue I still have some work to do on it. Is it better to do this in RW or RS?

To answer my own question, in the light of what was said on the Railworks forum, I will keep it in the RS programme as the structure of routes in RW is different to RS so routes in RW are not backward compatible with RS. However, there should no difficulty , one I have packaged it in RS, importing the package to RW. An issue may arise with vegetation as I understand that changes have been made in RW to vegetation of the same name in RS. In some cases the location of some of these items may need to be changed.

I am holding back on RailWorks at the moment, at least until a DVD becomes available. I will continuing building in RS at until such time as I am happy that RailWorks is stable and free of the Steam control.

There seems to be no disadvantage at all in doing this as conversion in likely to be much easier the longer I wait and at the moment I prefer to build than spend a long time sorting out program running problems.

Steam, however, is a major issue for me and I am waiting for a sensible solution.

How you getting on Moranb...?

Version 1 - Dublin to Portlaoise is almost ready. (All the track as far as Cork is there along with generic stations, but there is little scenery from Portlaoise on). I just have some tidying up to do. I need to do a little more work on Monasterevin and I have to track down some decals that seem to have got lost somewhere in the route. RS-tools lists them, but I cannot find them in the route. RS-tools also lists several missing assets which I cannot understand as they are there and appear in the route. I have successfully 'ported' the route to Railworks, but as I have indicated in the Railworks forum, I cannot get my own Irish stock to run - I keep getting the Railworksproc error. However, the default stock will run as will the Irish rail re-skins of the the Class47 and Mk3 coaches. Everything runs in RS. So, figure that.

Before uploading, I need to test it on another computer to make sure it loads correctly.

It should be ready within the next two weeks.

I was very surprised and upset to learn from a PM that I have received that someone who reads this topic apparently believes that I have used some models from MT's Enterprise Route in my Dublin-Cork route. I certainly have not, nor do I believe it is possible to do so in RS without the original 3D models. I regard this as a very serious allegation and would be grateful if that person would send me a pm - or post here - so that I can clarify the position. Until this is clarified, I will not be releasing the route.
