A few problems creating templates and .ace files

Post by montylowe2 »

Hello

After building routes for MSTS and got fed up with the awful route editor I finished my GWML route and then cut ties with train sims. Now after messing around with RS I'm thinking about building a serious route again...just a few problems.....

Firstly I'm not entirely sure how to enter the desired co-ordinates into RS tools. would " 50'43.56.25N and 3.32.37.82W " be entered " -3.3237 and 50.4256 into RS tools. A little confused here.

Secondly, The route templates I'm creating in Assit editor from RS tools are not appearing in the game. Just simply "addon template" not the name I have given to the blueprint at all :(. Again Very confused.

The "addon template" (probably due to me naming somthing incrorrecrtly) does not start me at my desired place in World editor and I cannot move using the top tool bar to the place i want ( again might be due to my first problem)

Following the Google image decal tutorial, for some reason I cannot for some reason convert .DDS files into ACE files using the ToACE converter. ( using a 'coverter plus' I found which can convert all image files into DDS's) It gives me some agro about failing to load and ace could not be converted. I've forraged through a few topics and cannot find the solution.

Many Thanks :)

Rich

P.S everything is taking twice as long as I'm suffering from the dreaded securum " please insert orginal disk" for the first 4 attempts at running any RS application.

To the Lat and Long they have got to be entered in pure decimal format and you can switch Google Earth to do this. Doing as you suggest will put things in the wrong place as I learned from experience.

For the Route templates have you switched on the section Addon by ticking the box in the Object Filter Thingy in the Route Editor accessed by clicking on the cube in the middle left hand flyout which will bring out a Right hand flyout with things like Kuju, Developer. I think addon is under the developer section.
To enable you to select and jump to an area of your choice using the Compass toolbar you need to produce a set of Marker Files as oulined in the DevDocs.

Hello

Thankyou for your reply :) I've overcome the terrors of the RS file structure, it's easy really, I suppose everythings hard first time round, I remeber MSTS...

Anyway, Thanks very much. I can and have cracked on with my route :)
