Adam - I don't think anyone is trying to be vexatious or denying the advice that yes, ideally and retrospectively sticking to *one* track rule is the way to go. The point being made is this may not be possible depending on the nature of the route being built and indeed Kuju's own default routes appear to have gone against this recommendation.
Thats the way i was thinking vern
ive been using the default routes as a guide, seeing how things have been set up in these routes, then implementing it into my own route, same way i did things on MSTS. add this to the fact that the blue print editer is set up for creating multiple track rules, you can see why i was confused.

Adam
is it advisable to change a blueprints settings after you have used it to lay track with? im after putting in some wires.
also is it possable to have ac dc overhead on the same track rule.

Hi Guys,

Although I admit there does appear to be two track rules per default route, observation of the track will show that only one trak rule was ever used. So the advice from RSDL is not contradicting any development undertaken by Kuju.

The Track Rule settings are only taken into account when track is laid. Changing the details of the rule after laying track will only affect newly laid track from that point. Track already laid will retain the details it had when first placed.

This action would allow the point made earlier - A route is split 50/50 betwen high speed electrification and low speed non-electrification. You could simply lay one half and then update the same track rule to the details required for the second half. Then commence building that second half.

Finally in response to having AC and DC overhead details on the same track rule. At present Rail Simulator merely supports electrified track via Overhead cabling. The voltage of the electrification is not accounted for yet. So the system will allow both 750 and 25K rolling stock to operate under the same wires.

One issue that I have found...is Track Rules seem to keep snapping back to the original (York to Newcastle), after exit and reload of the editor rather than preserving the last chosen type. Means it could be very easy to absent mindedly place a tricky section with an altogether different rule if you forget momentarily, resulting in potential havoc when you try to resolve the issue later.
