I would really like to package a route I've been working on up for download, but because of the stupid numbering system I've no idea which route is the one I've been working on!
Anybody help me with this?

Look in your routes.xml file for your route and read down until you see a line like the one below :
<DevString d:type="cDeltaString">67167cb3-c029-4d81-8d23-f95fab6d86d0</DevString>
This string is the same as your route folder title.

And once you know which folder is the one for your route, use Sniper's method of creating an empty file or folder inside it with the name of your route.

How do you do that then?
Sorry, I'm a bit of novice to anything RS related!

First things first, download RS tools (the missing bits) to find out what's what, save you a lot of hunting thru the routes.xml file.

Is there some form of tutorial anywhere on how to actually package a route so it appears in Rail Simulator at all?
I've sent a packaged version to a couple of people who both say it installed but just doesn't appear.

Well, I ain't real popular with the Redcoats cuz I keep throwing their tea in the harbor, but I gotta call 'em like I see 'em, I don't use the official packager. It ain't done yet.
First problem is the "disappearing routes" syndrome, RSDL claims corruption of the routes.xml file is caused by errors in manually hacking the routes.xml file. Haven't confirmed that yet, but it's kinda a moot point - one guy manually hacks his routes.xml file and uploads an .rpk scenario which corrupts someone else's routes.xml and he uploads a different scenario, next thing you know everyone has the virus. Actual cause is irrelevant, the point is it has no failsafe mechanism like Mike Simpson's automatic backup of the affected files.
Second problem is packaging up the 76b3a3f0-c9b0-48f2-9eff-1af9b00166d6 route when you meant to package the d7b39091-c2b5-44c4-beaf-6ed5047db8a6 route instead, since the official packager don't have anything that shows which is which. One guy recently packaged the York Newcastle route by mistake and nobody downloading it could figure out why they weren't getting a new route in the list, it was because they were just overwriting the default york with the packaged one when they unpacked the .rpk.
So until they get something that works and is Murphy proof, I stay with the Wizard of OZ, altho I admit to some bias there since I was with Mike in the early days of Route Riter for MSTS, in fact I'm the guy who made the EZstuff utility that preceded Route Riter, so I'm used to Mike Simpson after all these years.

That's my route packaging tute using RS Tools (The Missing Bits), altho you'll need to register and log in over here in the Rebel Colonies to see the pictures.

Thanks very much, I'll have a read of that.
This was far easier with MSTS!
