Problem With Points???

Didn't know where to post this but here goes...
When making points both with the crossover tool and also manually creating them I always seem to get the error below, I'm just wondering if it is a cosmetic problem that will be rectified in a later patch.
I notice this only seems to happen when I use the track tool to create 2 or more tracks, as when joining one track to another with a wider gap I do not get this problem, I have also noticed the error is present in the Newcastle to York route in a couple of areas.
Any help with be appreciated
Daz

I have had this problem when creating crossovers on track with a gradient even when the same gradient is set when laying the crossover.

Hi,
The fundamental answer is, sadly, you can not use prototypical distances between parallel tracks and get clear flange ways. Seems to be that the trains are happy to travel through such track work ok, but the humans are objecting to the visually dis- pleasing appearance. Makes for un prototypical track work but as has been pointed out before, only the creator of the route knows which exact piece of track is out of place by how much compared with the "real" world tracks anyway. Everybody can see the badly form track so one takes ones own choice on which path to take. Looking good or "real world" accurate and looking not so good.
My view is of course ignoring the need to have such a defect solved, which of course is the true solution. This can be done by using a track rule with the parallel distance altered, but your back to the non prototypical once more , (circular motion really). More about getting past the immediate hurdle.

Shame they removed the offset tool for laying track because then you could always easily make the gap slightly wider to avoid the problem

They removed this because the track produced by this method had no properties and gave major problems if you tried to link onto it. The offset tool was never meant to be used on the track.

It would appear that the RS Dev team are aware of the problem as noted on their forum that there is an error in the dressing code which they plan on rectifying so all is good

Yes you are correct, but It was very useful for many situations, and now those situations are much harder to replicate.
With regards to the problem, this happens all the time with my cross overs too whether being curved or with a straight section. To Derek or Adam if we lay this track now, if a update comes out to fix it will we have to relay all the track or will the update rectify it with no problems?

I agree with you that it made life a lot easier before I knew that it would cause problems and there is now no easy way if you want to add an extra parallel track to track already laid. I get all my crossovers and points to display and work correctly but it can take a bit of time and fiddling about to get the weld cube to appear above a Diamond Crossing on 2 tracks. I have managed a 3 track junction with a slip but I had to keep moving slightly up the track to start and using undo each time it did't work and dress correctly. The longest I have spent on one set of points was about 20 minutes. But the result is worth it IMHO.
