Is there away to get into the inner workings and make some changes to improve the game?

I changed the title of your message from "Help" to the current title of customisation ?
What exactly do you mean by "get into the inner workings" ? Have you read any of the threads here and elsewhere about Rail Simulator ? What is it that you think needs "improving" ?

tweaking the dynamic brake, different brake pressures through out the entire train.

If you've not already done so I suggest you download and read through the "Dev Docs" which can be obtained from the home page of the RailSimulator.com site. This will give you an idea of how such things as brake pressures are set up. As some users have found quite a few things can be altered to make the simulation more realistic from a driving point of view and have mainly been discussed in the Physics forum.
