dead locos
is it possible to have dead locos, ie no steam/smoke to be placed in sidings? or to be dragged along? especially thinking of the weathered scrap condition black 5. any help would be appreciated

Re: dead locos
Hi
When you place a Loco in your route and want it to be dead then do not assign a driver to it.
All done in Edit mode.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Mike

Re: dead locos
Try when driving to switch to the loco,if its steam press Z to turn the steam off, don't think this will work though.....
Re: dead locos
Hi,
The problem is that when you couple up to drag the loco, it will turn itself on again for use double-heading etc.
I'm sure there must be some way of editing this but I'm not clever enough to know!
Someone will though

Re: dead locos
Yes you can, I made two engines "dead" and they are currently blocking the Reading line, and they are so dead, you'll never move them without help. They were a Deltic and a 47:

I've just coupled, and no smoke here!!
I'm just off out for the rest of the day though so more information will have to wait I'm afraid, but it's all in the bin file - just 1 line as I remember.

Re: dead locos
Hi,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but its possible to make 'dead' locomotives using Mike Simpsons excellent 'Kickstart' utility.
Edited: as someone took exception to the 'Smilie' I placed on this message I have now removed it, no offence was intended to anyone and I'm too old to want to start upsetting people.

Re: dead locos

is there
we don't all look at the tools as fantastic as they for specific things like that!

Re: dead locos
Hi everyone
I totally agree Mikes RS Tools and Kick Start Utilities are brilliant
Kick start will make a dead steam or diesel loco for you
It also removes the crew etc which is perfect when placing locos on sidings or stabling them in engine sheds etc
It doesn't interfere with the original fully active model which is still available ready to be called upon
Kind regards Stephen
