Scrolling the 2D map.

Post by earwigo »

I am really enjoying Geoff Potter's 'Big layout', but have a couple of questions about using the 2D map. First, is there any way of scrolling the map either up and down, or side to side? It would be a great help in Geoff's scenario 'Around the Yards', where lots of points have to be changed. Also, is there any way of making the map show the 'F6' labels which are shown in the main sim window? This would be of great help in 'Around the Yards' also.
Many thanks,
Stuart. :-?

If you zoom in close enough using the mousewheel the main labels are shown, and you can move the map in any direction you want by rt.click & move whatever direction you like.

Hi Stuart,

Make sure that you LMB click on the small box (which by default is coloured Blue) next to the small Monitor icon until it turns Red, this will then allow you to move around the 2D map.

Hi emrhd01
I too have had difficulty moving around the 2D map. What is the small monitor icon and small blue box? Can't see them anywhere. But then I might not be looking in the right place!!!

Hi Mike,

Open the 2D map (key 9) and in the bottom right hand corner of the screen there are two icons, a box icon (which I believe is supposed to look like a HST) which will be either Blue or Red in colour and next to it a Monitor icon.

If the box icon is already Red, then by holding down the right hand mouse button and moving the mouse you can look around the 2D map, also zoom in and out by using the mouse thumbwheel (if you loose the zoom facility, exit and re-enter the 2D map).

If the box icon is Blue LMB click and it will turn Red.

Hope that sorts you out.

Hi Stuart

I am pleased to hear that you are liking The Big Layout.

In addition to all that has been said, you can only zoom in and out of the 2D map with the mouse roller key. If you do not have a roller key then you can select an area to zoom into but then you cannot zoom out again but I have not found any other way to replicate the roller key action without that key.

There was a 2D map problem before the Mk1 upgrade but everyone should now have that upgrade and Mk2 installed.

I will eventually get around to writing a few more scenarios for The Big Layout but my current project is taking up most of my time.

Many thanksto everybody above! In particular thanks to you, Geoff, for a most interesting route and scenarios. I'm an S&D fan, but still find your route quite addictive! I can't wait for extra scenarios.
