Crash to desktop

Post by StretchUKP »

Help is required re my problem please. I've recently bought and installed/reinstalled Rail Sim and patched it but it just won't run.

After I choose "routes" and then either Freeplay or Scenario's it appears to be loading but then crashes to desktop with a message of a problem with railsim.exe. before it actually runs. The same thing happens when I choose an engine in freeplay.

Anyone else had this problem?

Any suggestions please?

Regards,

What route you trying to run?

If you are trying to run a route wich has missing assets then that explains this error.

I've tried to run all of the routes supplied with the DVD provided. None of them will run, I don't think it's a "missing assets" problem, it appears to be a graphics problem. I'm running on WinXP Pro (sp3) and have a nVidia 7600GT card/256mb (latest drivers installed), 3.2GHz processor with 2Gb ram. I have no problems with any other games which all run great. I've d/loaded the official RailSim demo and that won't run either.

My son has Vista Ultimate installed and everything runs fine for him ????

Thanx for the response but it's not a "missing assets" problem. At least it wasn't??

I'm running WinXP (sp3) P4/3.2GHz Dual processor and 2Gb ram. nVidia 7600GT graphics with 256Mb memory (latest driver).

It loads and runs well on Vista Ultimate but now I can't even get it to install on Win XP. When I insert the DVD to re-install it errors to "missing installer win.msi??

I'm about pulling my hair out now......lol.

Never had any problems loading/running ANY other software ever!!!

Ideas??

It maybe a driver problem try running older nvida drivers.

I had nothing but problems with the very latest drivers.

You can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Ageia Physx drivers. It happened to me that after installing software, the drivers were overwritten by an older version of Ageia Physx, causing RS to crash.
