I am new to this game, and i am trying to understand how to play it. Many things confusing me:
1 when i stop at stations, passengers dont come into train, where do i excatly stop at the station? How to make the objectives get complete?
2 How do we change rail lanes? What is the keyboard shortcut for that?
3 Is there anything else we can do with the engine other then applying brakes and giving throttle? And turning it Reverse and Forward and such common things, can we do anything else too?
4- Any other information which you will like to share with me which will help me understand the game more and enjoy it fully.
5- Any place where i can get more maps and other things.
Thanks alot!

Re: Help with the game!
Hi, I can only really help with query 2.
To change 'rail lanes' (call them 'lines' or 'tracks') press number 9 key and you get a track plan showing the train you are driving in red. Your set up route is shown in blue. Where there is a point (or 'switch' in American English) you will find a little circle. Point your curser to that and click while pressing the shift key. The blue line now goes on to the other track. Where the blue line on the map stops there is another point. Point your curser on that little circle and click while pressing the shift key. And so on as you go.
Those yellow sign boards at some stations at the side of the track which show a place name may be clicked on from the driving cab, and this will set up the whole route for you so that you don't have to change any points on the way. When I go out of free play and switch off the computer, many times I have found that the points still seem to be set as they were when I last changed them! Next time you go into the game it's always wise to use those yellow signs, or keep your eye on the track plan which appears when you press 9. (Press 9 again to make the plan disappeare again by the way.)
Press F3 key and have a look at that as well. There is a smaller track plan, and an uncoupling plan which shows your loco, wagons, and coaches, to let you uncouple from your train.
Hope this helps to get you going,
Regards from an Old Chap.

Re: Help with the game!
To answer some of your questions:
1. When you stop with passenger vehicles next to the platform, press the "T" key, and the doors will open to load passengers. Also a loading progress bar will appear on the second tab of the drivers aids panel ("F3" key). If you can't see passengers moving on the platform see .... http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 15&t=75455 or wait for the patch.
2. To change the points (switches) to travel down different rail lines, press the "G" key to change points in front of your train and "SHIFT + G" keys to change the points behind. You can also change points by using view 9 (press the "9" key) and hold the "SHIFT" key as you click on the dots where the lines split / divide with left mouse button. The blue line indicates the path of your train, if it stops at a dot then the point is against you and you must change it to continue.
3. You can load and unload wagons at special locations, for example put containers on flat wagons or fill / empty hoppers with coal. You can couple and uncouple vehicles and locomotives from your train, some scenarios require this. On Steam locomotives you can also manage the boiler by adding coal to the fire and injecting water to the boiler (requires: Expert Controls ON and Auto Fireman OFF).
4. Nothing specific right now.
5. I admit more route information would be nice, but I guess you'll just have to dive them a lot to get to know them.
Someone got to question 2 first, never mind you can read both posts and see where that gets you, I'll either confuse you further, or you'll understand it better having seen it described 2 ways.
