Water Colour

Post by spelman »

Is there a way to alter the colour of the water in RS ?
It always looks too turquoise in the simulator, but seems more normal in some of the screenshots.

Not sure if you can change the water colour as it seams transparent to me. It may be affected by it's suroundings or reflections. My water always comes out dark...... Maybe I should rephrase that. See Pic.

The water appears turquoise when water detail is set to low. By selecting a higher level of detail in the graphical options will make water resemble what you've seen in other screenshots. :D

Also, it depends on the colour of the terrain under the water.

Also the season will have an effect as well. Looking at my pic' above you can see I've used the Rock texture under all of the water which is ok untill you change the season to winter then it turns a streaky white as you can see the snow under it. Although with a bit of imagination it could be the "white Caps" on the waves. :-? JJW.

I agree that the water is not as good as it could be, yes that care needs to be taken in what texture is sprayed under the surface.
The highlights do need to go lighter rather than darker in the distance.

To be honest Derek I think the water is brilliant compared with what I was using with MSTS.

Using Kosmos made things better (see pic) but did'nt have the depth that RS offers.
I am more than happy with the results I get .

PS. No I'm not knocking MSTS, if it wasn't for MSTS I wouldn't be enjoying RS as much.
