Re: How do i repaint a loco?
For some reason I can't get photoshop to open my dds file. A couple of times it said photoshop 3 or higher is required. Now it just shuts down!?! I have photoshop 5.0 LE so should be ok.
Kind regards, Paul.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
To remove them can you just delete the file?jivebunny wrote: Once you have edited the list, save it and launch RS. The new running numbers will be automatically assigned when you place the loco / wagon on the track. If there's any interest I can also slap together a quick tutorial on editing the colour and font of the numbers, but that's another kettle of fish altogether. At some stage I'll put all these together in one thread and get them stickied

EDIT: Also i gave rsbintool the correct location of the rail simulato file c:program files/rail simulator but the serz.exe is not showing up in the folder.

You need to go to the NVidia site to get the dds photoshop plugin.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
Thanks for that Derek, already have done that and installed it. Is there a certain way of opening dds or should photoshop just open it. DDS is in the format list of the open file dailogue.RSderek wrote:You need to go to the NVidia site to get the dds photoshop plugin.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
I read the readme with the rsbintool and its says there isn't a serz.exe folder but you can open .bin files directly from the program but when i go file/open theres only the option to open serz file or xml files, can anyone help?

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
There is no serz.exe folder, not sure what you mean. You need to convert the .bin to .xml so that you can open it with RSBinTools. To remove the numbers I think you can just delete the number textures, but I can't remember as I've only done it once. Make a backup copy of your reskin and then delete the numbers from the original, if it doesn't work just copy the backup back to the original folder.
@ Blackpatch, the File>Open method should allow you to open .dds files, if not then I'm not sure what the problem might be. Perhaps a reinstall of the plugins / photoshop / both might fix it. Try reinstalling the plugins first though to see if that helps.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
Thanks, i just realised you need the Dev tools to get the serz.exe to convert the .bin files to .xml, and ill try removing the numbers.jivebunny wrote:There is no serz.exe folder, not sure what you mean. ^^with the release notes with the rsbintool it said you do not need a serz.exe because it lets you directly open .bin files but it wont let me, but im following your way anyway
EDIT: JB i followed all the steps and i think ive done everything right, i removed the first great western logo on the hst from both sides and when i check the textures file it's still not there but when i go on the game its hasnt worked and the logos still appear, i checked the other texture files and none of them have the logo on, any ideas?

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
I think thats the problem i'm having, what .bin/.xml file was that line located in?Ferrisybuga wrote:BINGO I'VE FOUND THE LINE IM LOOKING FOR!
In the .xml
</BlueprintSetID>
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Freight\StandardVan\Default\Wagon\Textures\standard_van_Digits.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
</PrimaryNamedTextureSet>
<SecondaryNamedTextureSet>
There are others around 6 in total to change.
Now I get the problem that when I load RS and place the wagon all I can see is its couplings.. hmm... i'll keep trying.
Should I need to change the name of the.bin file to be the same as the folder name of the aset it is located in?

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
Has anybody had textures in Paint.Net that appear faint, almost see through?
Kind regards, Paul.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
Ferrisybuga your Virgin HST looks amazing, I was just wondering what you had to edit so that when you changed the name of your file to VIRGIN_HST it loaded the textures from there and not the original file. This is what happens to me when I change the name of the file, it doesnt use the textures in the new file but the ones from the original folder. Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: How do i repaint a loco?
I seem to have done everything you've said but when I put the train into RS the old skin is still on it.Any ideas why?
Re: How do i repaint a loco?
you need to make sure that you go through the bin/xml file of your loco and replace those links towards the folder of the loco that your skin is based on with links towards the folderof your new loco.
