Backing up your Route

Post by jjwillin »

In MSTS to back-up your route I ether used Route-Riter or copied the complete "My Route" Folder to another location. Now, I know I can't use Route-Riter but can I copy "My Route" Folder (the one with the long sting of numbers) from Content/Routes to another location and then back again if somthing goes a miss while creating this one? I just backed up the entire Railsim folder as soon as I installed it as its only just over 3 GB. Then If I screw up any part of it I can just copy back the relevant folders.
Cheers,
Stewart.

Thanks for that, but it's only the route i'm making that i'm concerned about. If RS scews up then I can reinstall it, but if I do that without backing up "My Route" first then that will be Lost. With amount of work and time I've put in so far I don't want to start moving/copying folders about without knowing it wont screw everthing up including "My Route".

Copying the route folder will get almost everything you need. The only other file affecting the route appears to be Routes.xml in the Content folder.

I know others that have used a copy of a route have noticed that the route destinations tab is blank. I haven't come across a solution yet. :-?

I havn't got as far as putting in destinations yet, still exploring the what dose what options at the moment. I just didn't want to do all this only to lose it to a silly mistake. I've already had it wanting to talk to Mr. Gates a couple of times when using the copy and paste tools... Thanks for your help, JJW.

I'm referring to the compass navigation list of destinations accessed from the top-centre menu. Some have found it to be blank on copied routes. :(
