Last Train to London

Post by msdejesus »

Hi, these are some shots from a simple scenario I've made based on actual FGW timetables, depicting the 00:05 HST FGW service from Oxford to London.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome:

Use the Valenta HST instead :D
oh and the consist looks short, HST's are 8 cars long.
Other than that sounds good! Title reminds me of a trip on the line last summer, it was the first day of the Thames River flooding, I was in London for a day and when it was time to head back to Oxford we found that all trains were delayed or canceled, one HST finally showed up on the board and everyone rushed to get on, It was standing room only but i wish i had figured out that the damn windows on the doors opened as i wouldve been more than happy to stand the whole way (As i did all the way from Penzance to Reading :D )

PS: Feel free to make any suggestions concerning this scenario, since my knowledge about the area is limited, especially as regards freight traffic you're likely to have at that time.

Much better :)
As for freight traffic, i remember one night coming in late to Reading and seeing a EWS coal train bound for Didcot roll through with two Class 66's and a bunch of HTA's (or whatver the new ones are called) then shortly after a Freightliner container train behind a 66.
Between London and Didcot you will see a fair bit of EWS coal trains for Didcot power station, Freightliners will also be seen between london and Oxford, they take the bypass track around Didcot and go straight to Oxford, EWS also operates some container trains. There should usualy be a few 66's and a 08 idling around Didcot. Im sure people who have more experience than me can give you some better pointers though.

No problem, scenario's looking good, I thought of another idea, you should have the Night Riviera waiting at Paddington staion or even better pulling in alongside you, it usually arrives on the farthest to the left track (assuming you are in the station lobby looking west) It usually have a 57 on both ends, theres none available right now but im working on one, the FGW 47 in the download area will work too, you can use the neon coaches as no green and gold are available yet, i plan to attemp those too.

Thanks for your comments. Concerning the Night Riviera, I must say I haven't been able to couple the 47s to the neon coaches, any help is welcome. It would be a pleasure for me to share the finished scenario when it's done.

Manuel

There are only a few 47 available which will couple to mk3s because those coaches have buckeyes (I think) and 47s have screwlinks(another "I think") moment. These 47s are available from http://thezone-reloaded.co.uk/ . Hope this helps.

@robbieskaman: Thanks a lot for your interest, but still no luck, I visited the link you suggested, though, and grabbed some nice rolling sotck.

I had to substitute the actual coaches of the Night Riviera as a "poetic licence" in order to make it work. :D

Scenario is almost done, btw, anyone wanting to "beta-test" it is welcome, just drop me a pm.

Two more teasers...

Great looking scenario there.

The only class 47 that i have been able to couple to a Mk3 coach is the Colas liveried variant.

Terrone. :D

thats simple, just select in the options menu, ignore coupling types or whatever, then you can couple to whatever car with whatever engine. You can run a SD40-2 hauling MK1's if you want
