Is Railsimulator Dead?

All the downloads have disappeared from the Railsim site and it gets little mention.
I have a straight off the CD version on my roadshow comuputer and now can't update it and add the tools.
I have Railworks but I cannot download content for Railsim in order to convert it to Railworks without the tools.

Investigations are continuing into any possible solution UKTS can facilitate. Please don't let this simple statement start a frenzy of speculation but wait for any announcements.

Dean,
Did you try emailing them at
support@railsimulator.com? I used that address for another query and after some days got a reply, albeit what seemed to be an standard one directing me to the Wiki, but at least someone's reading stuff sent to that address.

They are now reponding to e-mail with this:-
Dear Customer,
I am pleased to inform you that your query has now been processed and the answer can be found on the RailWorks FAQ website.

Congratulations rs.com, another stunning example of customer relations. It seems when they talked about "no longer supporting RailSimulator" they didn't just mean no more patches, they meant suddenly erasing it from history. Even the on line shop has gone, so if, like me, you haven't purchased items such the stock packs or the foliage pack your chance has gone. No doubt RailWorks versions will shortly appear on Steam - more arm twisting to go for the upgrade. Us RailSimulator users should probably be grateful RailSimulator wasn't on Steam - with this sort of supplier attitude they would probably have used the client to disable its operation - as "RailSimulator is no longer supported". Perhaps a vision of the future when RailWorks2 is announced?
ps
As to the customer support emails, they certainly sound like automated replies don't they? Perhaps we should send an email which says something like:
"Dear customer support, a bug in my RailSimulator software has caused my PC to become sentient and now, like HAL9000, it is trying to kill me. How do I solve this problem?"
To see if we get a "I am pleased to inform you that your query has now been processed and the answer can be found on the RailWorks FAQ website."

Please refer to my post above.
Investigations are continuing as to what UKTS can do to facilitate any possible solution. Needless speculation will not help and neither will a great outpouring of angst.

If I had just paid good money for RS only to find all files that were available and made the game worth buying were withdrawn and no explanation as to if they would ever be back, I would be very peed off to say the least.
This has been a hurried push out of a new product with no consideration to details and the pulling without explanation of the website only justifies peoples mistrust of the RW team.
Marketing is one thing preserving your customers trust is another, I for one have lost trust.
Get your heads back out of the ground RW team and start listening to those whom you have deserted without explanation.

We're alone in a fighting situation by the looks of things....AL was too ahead to realise the stragglers were too slow...

to be fair.. after digging into the FAQ site I found this
'Q: Are Rail Simulator Addons compatible with RailWorks?
A: Yes. Any Rail Simulator content in RPK (RailSim Package) format can be installed directly using the Package Manager tab in the RailWorks Launch window.
The RailWorks Package Manager also caters for content supplied in EXE/INSTALLER format, however this feature is currently disabled while the official development team finalise its functionality. Once active you will be able to select 'Install Addon DVD' and install any retail purchased Rail Simulator addons into RailWorks."
it still does not commit to the free add ons i.e the Class 47 etc..
This should have been finalised before the launch to prevent this..
My business is website construction and design, there was no reason why links could have been established to the old site, even though
http://www.railsimulator.com is being used for RW. just needed all the RS stuff putting into say

Don't think we've officially announced it yet, but the 158 and freight wagon packs are going to be added to the Just Trains range soon (plan is for them to be compatible with both RS and RW). I'm fairly sure the official website shop will be coming back shortly though along with other parts of their website.

Thanks for that info Simon. I'd been wondering what Just Trains approach would be. RS.com would do well to take tips from your company's customer interaction.

Would I be correct in thinking then that all the removed files... the class 47's etc that were add ons to the original RS are bundled in RW ?
