I think there is far too much froth over something completely superficial.
On the other hand, it looks classy and much, much better than the RS packaging.
Voyager, Class 66 & Isle of Wight, Official Expansion Pack, Rascal & Cottonwood - all box art without any photoshopping. Something that wasn't really possible with games a few years ago, but is becoming all the more viable because of how "real" things are starting to look.

So you think this is what RS will really look like at night Simon?

You'd be better asking the Rail Simulator team a question like that. Was just commenting that some games have used real in-game shots, which presumably Arabiandisco doesn't have in their collection yetTheTazman wrote:So you think this is what RS will really look like at night Simon?

I would say initially no, but when they add projected light who knows, but in regard to the box art the terms "artistic licence" and "never judge a book by its cover" come to mind.TheTazman wrote:So you think this is what RS will really look like at night

Re: RailWorks Box Shots
Strangely with 6 / 5 days to go (depending on timezone / area) there is still no sign of a preorder or 'Coming Soon' on "Steam" (my client is open right now). So I'm thinking that the release date 12June will be the day that Valve will make it available to order (in other words no preorder & preload). So those wanting it on the 12th via "Steam" might as well be better off waiting till the 13th for it to appear on the client.
Anyone want a virtual bet that the "Online" release date is going to slip?
(It happens with 99% of todays games, will Railworks be any different?
)

Re: RailWorks Box Shots
I have not used Steam but I have used the EA download service for software distribution. I did pre-order The Sims 3 and got a confirmation email. There was no trace in the download manager for pre-load etc. but on Thursday night it suddenly came available.AndyM77 wrote:Strangely with 6 / 5 days to go (depending on timezone / area) there is still no sign of a preorder or 'Coming Soon' on "Steam" (my client is open right now). It only takes a few minutes to process a credit card payment so why all the angst now ? Release date is not for another few days so chill everyone.

Re: RailWorks Box Shots
You're right there. I don't have a single payware RS add-on.simuk wrote:You'd be better asking the Rail Simulator team a question like that. I also don't have any games at all with screenshots on the cover, though I realise that in-game graphics are getting to the level where you could do that. I've noticed that cinematic sequences these days are generally done with the in-game graphics engine these days, rather than being specially rendered affairs...

Re: RailWorks Box Shots
I am surprised Arabiandisco that you havn't a single payware add on
You are severely limiting your experience of Rail Simulator.
The foliage pack alone is worth every penny and I have made full use of it on my Candlewick route.
Kind regards Stephen

Re: RailWorks Box Shots
My enjoyment of RS is in messing around in the Route Editor creating little scenes, rather than actually running trains (I can't think of anything more boring, to be honest). I find there's plenty of stuff to do that with in the default routes, so that's what I use.
Here's an example:

I don't have the attention span to create a whole route (I run out of steam with tracklaying after about 3 miles).
Anyway, that's completely off topic!
