RailWorks Box Shots

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Maybe a night approach to Paddington Station with all the signal glows would have been better from the cab. It's what the product does that counts.I remember lots of the Janes series flight sims came in boxes like this with a whopper of a manual, good times.

I'm a bit confused as to why it looks like the Isle of Wight route is used on the box, I am correct in thinking this is not included?

A lot talking about a printed manual. But i haven't seen Railsimulator.com written it anywhere. Only that there will be a inside wiki.

The IOW is not included and while the pics look similar there are also differences such as no third rail on the boxes picture.

Sounds great :D Then i need something about the pricing. Will a steam version cost the same as a retail version? A printed manual must cost more then a downloaded document. But still 6 days to launch, and more info will come  Also about the discount for RS users.
Definately a collectors item
But then i'll have to wait another 3 weeks :(

I'm going to say that that image is not a direct screenshot from in-game and has undergone some photoshop editing. The atmospheric lighting I'd say is photoshop.

I'd agree with you Paul, some kind of light filter to make the lamps give out a flair, same with the lighting inside the Deltic cab,photo-shopped.

Yes I had noticed that plus the lighting, but that was not really my point.

Yes it's definitely a photoshop, but hopefully it is representative that there will be some in cab lighting.

Well spotted both of you
I hadn't really noticed the photo has been edited using a photo suite ie Photoshop.
Still very evocative and atmospheric though.
Kind regards Stephen

I don't think that I even own a game where the primary box art is remotely representative of what you get inside, never mind a photoshopped (how are we so sure they used adobe photoshop  ) screenshot.

I think there is far too much froth over something completely superficial.

On the other hand, it looks classy and much, much better than the RS packaging.

I think the point being made is ...Does the packaging show a fair representation of Rail Works?
If an image has been airbrushed it could be argued this is not fair representation?
I am prepared to wait and see the actual screens of Rail Works, and I have already decided to purchase it when it is released.
Rail Simulator has provided me with alot of pleasure and I am hoping Rail Works will build upon this.
Kind regards Stephen.

Thats good point. One thing that is for sure is that the deltics cab, IS the deltic from RS and the route that appears to be IOW IS the actual grahpics from that route. So hopefully this lighting IS possible in RW. Bear in mind other games that have good lighting and RW should be able to follow suit.
