I think things are going in favour of modern day branch. Also 777fred Quote:

Secure yes, but not particularly efficient. The transport minister has recently promised some money so Network rail can put a connection into the Swanage branch which uses modern signalling methods, Im assuming this is so that modern traction find it easier to use it.777fred wrote:Minehead and Swanage both have secure mainline connections atm, is St Looe really used by preserved groups at Weekends?
Minehead is also connected, but they are going to put a new platform in at the junction (I did hear the old station at High Wycombe was being mooted for the role), so connection with the national network is easier.
St Looe is just an example of a modern branch line which has retained much of its old character. Im sure others (albeit not many) survived Dr Beechings efforts.
Re: Green Lane. Preserved or Modern Branch?
Well a modern day branch seems to be most popular, so I think I'll have a crack at one of those. It'll also give me something to run my voyager on. If anyone else agrees, I was thinking of having it like a singal track route, something like the Further North route? I'm also going to try and make the scenery as interesting as possible. Or if people wanted I could combine the two, and have a heritage railway and a Modern day thingy!
