from what I gathered from John Yelland is that the original had missing files in it so he bought out V1.1 and deleted V1, then he bought out v2 to complete all the signals.

I deleted V1 loaded in both 1.1 and 2 everthing is ok.

I can assure you the four signal types are in the V2 rpk, I have just checked using 7-Zip. Those four types were not included in V1 as they would not work under the default lua scripting. With the use of Upgrade Mk2 scripting additional signal types are added to the kit.

Check the dates of the files in the Assets folder, V1 are dated 07/04/2008, V2 are dated 02/02/2009

I note that the files are being reported with lower case where they should be upper case, the following being the correct version.
C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\Assets\Yelland\Addon\RailNetwork\Signals\UK Semaphore\GWR_Arms\GWR-5ft-Jct-BSD-MSD.bin (Track Item)
Whether this has a bearing on the problem I am not sure.

Just downloaded v8 and RS Tools reports these missing:

\Rail Simulator\Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_brent.bin (Scenery Item)
\Rail Simulator\Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_newtabb.bin (Scenery Item)
\Rail Simulator\Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_newtabb.bin (Scenery Item)

Any help as to where to find them would be most appreciated.

Manuel

I'm afraid at my end the route is still crashing when leaving Newton Abbot with a CTD.

I have tried numerous fixes, installed all the scenery including the signals, checked the route with RS Tools so I am completely stuck.

Hi

Does the program crash if you navigate to the problem area just using the 2D map?
If it does, then this is an indication that there is a track item missing, such as track or a track related item such as a signal or perhaps a fuel transfer point.
Just an idea.

Hi Geoff

Now this is interesting. When I click where my train is located (at the eastern platform of Newton Abbot), there is no track, nor track related information displayed when I press 9 to look at the 2D map. If I try and zoom out, at a specific zoom level, the sim CTDs.
Could this be related to the CTD in general? Why can't I see any information in the 2D map?

Any help offered much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi photons

It seems I was in the right area and it is indeed a track related problem. I have experienced this when I have tried to run a route without installing all the necessary additional track items. Although routes will load and run if there is scenery missing, and indeed they can be made to run when there are track items missing, as soon as you enter a field of vision either in the sim or on the 2D map where there are track items missing, the game crashes.

I do not think this is a problem with your installation of Rail Simulator but everything suggests to me that you are missing some track or track items. Can you check again, preferably with Mike Simpson's 'Tools' to see if it lists anything missing from your particular installation of the route. Make sure you check everything carefully as sometimes the obvious is easy to overlook.

I hope this helps.

Hi Geoff

I have just finished checking the route with RS Tools and the only 3 items it reports missing are:

Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_brent.bin (Scenery Item)
Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_newtabb.bin (Scenery Item)
Assets\Jetgriff\SouthDevonBanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_newtabb.bin (Scenery Item)

The check route tool still reports no lack of track items so I'm not sure.

Thanks for any further help.

Hi Photon

I don't think those few items would cause a problem, but I am at the limit of my experiences now so I cannot suggest anything else except - does the route use the All Tracks Rules. I do have the route installed but have not had time to check it out fully but possibly if the All Track Rules (from the Rail Simulator Website) has been used and you have not installed these, it may cause a problem. A long shot this one but the best I can do!

Small update on the problem.

Going into World Editor, when clicking on a section of track and looking at the track rules that the route uses, the track rules dialog box is displaying nothing. Does that imply that the route is using the Alltrackrules?

Sorry to sound further vague here but how does one go about ascertaining whether a route is using the Alltrackrules?

Thanks for any advice offered.

Probably the best place to ask this,

Before i do, must say i am very impressed with the latest version of the route, i had downloaded an earlier version and it really has come a long way.

It's more an activity query, and i noticed it first of all in the "16:03 Plymouth - Bristol local" scenario. When passing the AI, they seem to be going at about 0.2 mph. This seems to be only particular AI though, when the activity starts and you back onto the coaches, a pannier comes in with it's train at normal speed, stops at the station then goes off. But when i get to the King and rake of coaches, it's as if the crew have given up!

Anything i can do to fix it?

had a go with this route for the first time today and have to say it is fantastic.

i have to admit, although on the old Paddington2Penzance i enjoyed the extremely long activities but with RS having the Great Western over the course of various routes seems to be paying off with fantastic, lifelike scenery.

Re track rules, yes the dialog box is empty, this was my first attempt at track rules, and when completed the dialog box is empty, i haveny had time to sort it out but i think with RS tools I possibly could edit it in... I presume you have loaded the track rules in..

The route is not running as I want just now but when I have finished the scenery, take about another week I will go along nit picked the whole lot, there are a lot of things I want to improve, I upload the route in various parts so that you can find the hidden faults and I can work on the route..

Re the missing files, these are some experimental files that we tried when David Gibbons was creating them, like the residue after the 'big bang' they are wandering the outer reaches of the universe, will delete them again when time permits..

cheers
