West Somerset Railway Released

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

managed to run it, without the IOW add on. the scenery is excellent (of the ones which i have!) though the lack of track from mainline onwards detracts from it slightly. excellent work! can't wait to get the IOW so i can have the track!
Currently recreating Salisbury to Exeter 50s/60s.
almost all yard, trackwork, scenery and signalling complete salisbury - wilton. Trackwork 2013 standard to Gillingham, Older beyond. - Abandoned due to newer tools in subsequent TS versions.

Hi
Cant recall using a developer model, but 14 months and hours and hours of work on the route numb the brain cells slightly,so sorry if something has slipped through.
I have some time today so i,ll have a nose round.
Can i say thankyou for all the very kind comments so far.
Best Regards

In the recently released scenario for the WSR called "First Train" I am missing the rolling stock of the class 43, and I am wondering if anyone knows what these carriages are or where to get them -

Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\railvehicles\diesel\hst\mixed\cale_mk3tso\mk3tso_fgw_c.bin is missing

I know I can swap them out but I just wanted to check if any one knows the actual file they belong too. Its a shame it is so difficult to work out the actual name of rolling stock as the name of the bin files can be quite esoteric at times.

I asked the same question yesterday. The reply i got was:
The coaches you are missing are from the RS-TRAINSIM site, but their dowloads have been unavailable for nearly a week now.
I have since swapped them for something i do have.

To get all the 1950's railwaymen I installed the following UKTS files and that cleared the missing content for me.

UKTS_20878_Railwaymen_1950s_Pack01 and UKTS_20890_Railwaymen_1950s_Pack02

Hi all.. don't be alarmed.. it's only me!! :P
I have checked through the route and found that at least three diff. track rules have been used on the WSR section alone.. this has obviously mucked up the grounds for altering the speed limits to what they should be.. So what I have done is gone through the WSR's track Bin file and rooted out all the odd track rules (in RSTools) and swaped them for the IOW track rule........ Now the WSR has one track rule throughout its length which makes things much easier. I have asked Kevin if I could do this and send him the route back to him, though havn't got a reply yet!
I have also found out that some of the signals on the route have not been set up as they should.. in some cases instead of using propper junction signals Kevin has used two single stop signals side by side, so I have also changed these.. and to top it off the junction at the Dunster end of Blue Anchor is the opposite to what it should be, so have changed that... Otherwise its a cracking route, and love going for a drive on it!

Kind Regards

Pete

The initial upload of my 1950's Railwaymen Pack01 to RS-Trainsim included a spelling mistake that seems to make no difference to the operation of Rail Simulator, but which is clearly picked-up by RS_Tools. The actual file is not missing although RS_Tools thinks it is, due to my error. I was hoping nobody would notice...

I subsequently corrected the spelling and re-uploaded but it looks like you might have been one of the first to download the original pack. I suggest you download again and reinstall from UKTS. This will tidy-up the RS_Tools report.

I don't believe this would prevent the route from loading. Failure to load is usually a sign of something more fundamental than a missing scenery asset. If RS_Tools only flags the railwayman then I really don't know what to suggest, other than to delete the route from the RS Route Selector screen (to completely remove the route folder) and then reinstall it, especially if you've been using the world editor to investigate the problem.

Regards,
Michael

Hi Pete,
Has Kev been in touch about your "improvements" it would be nice if we could have the route re uploaded with these fixes :)

Hi Mart. Kev and I have spoken on this and he has decided that it would be best if the route is kept in its current form for the forseable future. I completely understand the reason behind this, as it would mess up the scenarios already created for the route and there has been little, if any at all, calls for things to be improved. Kev has said however that you may alter your version of the route in the same way, if you so wish,
but it is after all, a learing curve and he is intending to adopt these changes in his next route. I realy love the work he has put into this route otherwise and it is a joy to travel on :D
I hope this has answered your query.

Kind Regards Peter.

Haven't seen these mentioned anywhere. I installed the route and all of the listed assets that I didn't already have (thanks g0fthick for the links, very helpful). I ran it through RS_Tools_Pro and came up with the following missing scenery items:

icepak\ice\kabel_produkt_nr2\kabel_produkt_nr2.bin
icepak\ice\mietshaus_nr1\mietshaus_nr1.bin
jjasloot\Levelcrossings\uk_lights.bin
jjasloot\Levelcrossings\uk_sign keepcrossingclear.bin
jjasloot\Levelcrossings\uk_sign_large-slow.bin
jjasloot\Levelcrossings\uk_sign_lights.bin
jjasloot\Overig\buildings\signs\beware_of_trains.bin
jjasloot\Overig\buildings\signs\gwr_notrespass.bin
jjasloot\Overig\buildings\signs\notice_trespass.bin
JWR\RailSimulator\scenery\station_signs\nameboards\nameboard_3x18inch.bin
RSderek\giveaway\stations\signalbox_ner_01.bin
Wilburton\Stockton\scenery\buildings\pf_lfoffice.bin

Clues and/or hints would be appreciated.

Regards,

Bob.
