RS Tools Pro 4.1.47 _ Contents?

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

RS Tools Pro 4.1.47 _ Contents?

Post by emrhd01 »

Hi Mike, or anyone else who can help,

I have downloaded some time ago RS Tools Pro version 4.1.47 (which combines RS Tools and Kickstart into one package) and tonight decide to check on something, but when I select 'Contents' under the 'Help' Tab I get an Adobe Error message stating
There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found.
I have checked in the RS Tools folder and there is no .pdf file (there was one in my old Kickstart folder) and therefore no help file.

Is this a case that Mike hasn't written a combined RS ToolsPro & Kickstart instruction booklet yet or is it missing from the download or have I done something wrong in the installation?

Is anyone else getting the RSToolsPro instructions?
Rob.

Hi Rob

I am using tools version 4.1.52 which seems to be complete with Kickstart features plus the pro additional features.

Looks as though you might have missed the latest version.

Nice to meet in the MSTS1 forum for a change :-?

Hi Geoff,

I perhaps haven't explained myself clearly enough, I do have the combined Utilities (fully working) it is the Operating Instructions for the Utilities, usually found in 'Contents' under the 'Help' Tab, that I have not got access to.

I had them when Kickstart and RS Tools were separate, but not now. :(

Hi Rob

I have a pdf file called RS_Tools_Help.pdf dated o4/03/2009 in my c\Program Files\RS_Tools folder which contains the RS Tools Pro Instruction Manual. This is accessed through the help button on the window top menu but perhaps you have not got this. I have a licence for the Pro version but I am not sure where the .pdf file came from, perhaps it only comes with the Pro licence.

You might find out more at Mike Simpson's website http://www.rstools.info/index.html

Edit - Yes you can download the latest help file from there.

Thanks a lot Richard and Geoff,

That is exactly what I had missing, I'd searched 'Links' to Mikes Sites that I'd got, but hadn't got that one (saved in Favorites for future). I've downloaded and installed the .pdf into my RS Tools folder and everything is again working as it should.

I decided I'd better check the download and when opening the zip and reading the RS_Tools_ReadMe.txt file I find the following:
2. To reduce the size of the main download file, the Help file, RS_Tools_Help.pdf is
available as a separate download from my site
Guilty as charged.

As I already had RSTools installed I didn't read the Read Me in full and fell foul as a consequence, that will teach me to practice what I preach :-? .

Apologies to Mike if he reads this, you have covered everything as usual, but you have no control over Dumbo's like me who don't read your instructions.

Thanks everyone, happy again

Hi Rob

Mike is so efficient at publishing updates that I think we all fall behind a bit at times but the latest version of Tools is extremely good and the Instruction Manual that you now have is very helpful.
Still puzzled as to why we are in the MSTS1 forum though!

Hi Geoff,
Still puzzled as to why we are in the MSTS1 forum though!
I was having a bad day yesterday, my mistake, I'm a MSTS1 & RS man and I Posted in the wrong Forum :-?

Perhaps the Mods will move it to the correct Forum (just in case someone else has a bad day with finding the .pdf.)

Sorry about that, some of the 'Full' versions were uploaded with the Help file and some were not, simply because the Help file never changes very much and is actually bigger than the program.

Both updates and Help files can be downloaded from http://www.rstools.info/index.html

Hi Mike,

Please do not apologise, we all owe you a great deal for providing us with such a 'Brilliant' Utility, without it what would we do, not being ,able to substitute Rolling Stock/Scenery/Weather etc. that has been used in Scenarios for items we do have.

It was totally my fault in the first place for not reading your 'Read Me' file correctly. :-?

Thanks a lot for everything you do for us with MSTS1 and RS, it is very much appreciated.

Hi Rob,

Don't worry, I doubt that most people ever read the 'Read Me' at all. I have put the Route_Riter readme in the RS_Tools package in the past and no one noticed :-)

Have a look at v4.1.54 on my site now (along with new Help file as separate download) - It allows you to convert MSTS marker files directly to .dcsv files with no need to use Blueprints at all.
