SDB route Starcross layout question

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

SDB route Starcross layout question

Post by jetgriff »

I cant work out where is what from this box diagram to the videos and pictures i have.. were the sidings and box between the platforms and the pump house or after? The WD sidings how far from the station were they, google shows the main road against the railway so all must be around the pump somewhere.

I was never aware of the existence of any sidings at Starcross, but for certain they would have been after the platforms and pumphouse looking westwards on the Warren end of Starcross. The pumphouse is close to the platforms roughly where the 'up and down' arrows are on the diagram.
There is an area just to the west of the pumphouse which is now used as a car park for the yacht club and I guess there would have been just enough room for a short loop, and you are quite right, the road runs very close at this point.

P.S. Just found another photo, on its way to you!

I visited Starcross ages ago (when it was still a museum), just as a matter of interest, were the sidings where the car park is now?

BTW, there was a fantastic view from the tower. :)

Hi
Cant answer the question, but did you know that starcross has a webcam fitted to the top of the atmospheric railway,s pump house tower?http://www.starcross-fcc.com/webcam/
its always busy so be prepared to que,but the views over the station and surrounding area might be useful.
Best Regards
