SDBv5

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

SDBv5

Post by kevpotts »

Hi

Downloaded, incuding all recommended add-ons but cannot ge scenarios to load? Have enabled add-ons via editor (and previously had v3 running ok). I can use free roam and place/drive a train (eg from Totnes) or from N Abbot

Anyone else similar probs?

Love the route though!

Lovely route but one problem, in free play mode when pressing 9 for the Map, there is no map and then comes up this message ‘RailSimEditor.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience’.

It did it also on the last version but only around Plymouth, I installed some other scenery add ons and then it was ok. I've installed the latest version and the problem is back, but now the error comes up anywhere on the route when pressing 9.

Anyone else getting this or is it just me? :-?

Actually forget what I said above, usually on other routes you press the 9 key and it shows the map without pressing anything else. I pressed the red button bottom right and it took me to the map.

All ok.

Hello kevpotts,

Have you tried running a check with RSTools?

I am running Version 4 that I have corrected the issues with the 10:00 Scenario (all other Scenarios run fine) and Loading Screen picture, so I haven't bothered to install Version 5. :-?

Hi, not sure whether this is relevant but have installed this version of the route without having a previous version installed and have got the longbow station signs + some of jetgriffs assets missing - although in the rpk there are assets for all of the other routes Jetgriff has made!
Could anyone shed some light on this? Do I need to install an earlier version 1st to get the assets then uninstall and reinstall the latest version?

DId you see if the 'set object filter' has the 'Longbow' and Jetgiff/South Devon Banks Routemarkers and Template routes boxes ticked?

This has been a very hard route to get going, its throwing problems up that are different on individual computers. I was going on to Exeter but think will call it a day with this one, most of the problems need individually tweeking, its also getting to big for most computers..

But keep the reports coming, I think we can get it satisfactory for most to use..

Hi Jetgriff,

I checked in the assets folder for them but couldn't find them. They came up as missing in RS tools so not sure where they are - had a look in the RPK with Winzip but couldn't find the assets there either, so I will try to install v3 first to see if that installs the missing assets - I will update later.
Please don't give up on this route - well not till after starcross anyway! :D
Mark

Edit checked v3 and cornwood, Plympton & Plymouth missing - but will try the filter to see if Longbow is enabled

there should be just 3 station signs missing listed, they are 3 test ones that were sent to me, the full set used (name boards should show at all stations) was incorporated in the 'longbow' 's folder and should show in there, look in RS/assets/longbow/scenery/clutter/GWR_Station Signs

Hi Jetgriff, there are some station signs in the longbow folder but none of the station name ones - it does explain the clusters of milk churns on the platforms though - and I thought they were there for healthy living! :D

ahh, bet I never packaged the longbow assets when I packaged v5, they were packaged in v4 so if you never installed v4 they will not show... if you have not got v4 downloaded, could I just package the Longbow folder and email it you? whats your email? PM me if you wish.... always make a backup of the rs/content/routes.xml, sometimes the route disappears just paste the routes.xml back in..

For the most part SDB does not appear to be an unusually asset intensive route so perhaps the F3/ 2D performance issues arise either from one or two tiles or from AI heavy scenarios. Things might be improved by replacing the default foliage with the RSDL foliage pack, which looks better and is more efficient.

Hope you get the problems fixed John, it would be a shame to miss out on the final stretch to Exeter.

Thanks to both Longbow & Jetgriff - now have most of the signs - just missing 2 -
Assetts\jetgriff \southdevonbanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_brent.bin
Assetts\jetgriff \southdevonbanks\scenery\clutter\gwr_stationsigns\gwrsign_newtabb.bin
If these are these in the longbow folder I will copy them to the jetgriff folder.

EDIT

I created the new folder structure & put all the brent & newtabb files from the longbow folder in it, and now have no errors. :D :D :D

Thanks again to both and best of luck with the gremlins

That should do the trick. Looks as if the route is looking for earlier version of these two signs that were in Jetgriff's folders.
