scroll map crash
can anyone help, when i am viewing the map view and scrolling along the route railsimulator crashes with that dreaded message "railsimulator launcher has stopped working". I have tried different ways around the problem but nothing seems to work. it is especially irratating when i am making scenarios. After weeks of trial and error i am now quite adept at making scenarios which also include plenty of AI traffic which i hope to upload to the rail simulator community in the not to distant future. I have one nearly ready for the devon banks routes. hope somebody has an answer to my problem

Re: scroll map crash
You could have a corrupt tile somewhere in the route as I've seen RS crash when it finds one and can't cope. There are several ways you could go about it. The first I'd recommend is getting RS Tools and running the route through it to see if it detects any errors. (Check the manual on how to do this). If that still doesn't yield anything, grab my krstool2 app (both it and RS Tools are available here at UKTS) and create an update script in it that, for example moves all the scenery by 0 m in any direction. That won't do anything to the route but it'll get krstool2 to clean out all the tiles and generate proper ones that won't crash Rail Sim. Alternatively, somewhere along the way with running either of these apps you could get an error that gives you a better idea of what's wrong.
Good luck,

I don't know whether this will help, its from a Post I made in another Thread:![]()
I had similar problem with the Wales & Borders Route for some time before I worked out a way to prevent it crashing when pressing key F3 or Key 9.
What I suggest that you do is load the Scenario you want to run, when it has loaded before you do anything else, remove the Briefing screen, then click on the 'Globe' (at the bottom of screen) which takes you into Scenario 'Edit' mode. Open the Top left 'Fly out' and click on the 'Monitor screen' symbol, this will open the right hand 'Fly out' which has the Screen options. Click on the right hand cube at the top and All the ticks will disappear from the Icons, now 'Tick' the minimum number of Icons you can run the Scenario with. Finally click on the orange arrow at the bottom of the screen which will return you to the Scenario and away you go. I have shown you a screenshot of the ones I have selected to enable me to run 'Steams dying days Pt1' Scenario that I could not run before using this method.

If too many Icons are ticked the Sim will still crash, I'm afraid it's trial and error to suit your P/C .
I believe it might be that the Graphics card or Processor that's installed, although capable of running the Sim for some Routes is struggling to handle more densely populated Routes like Wales and Borders and it falls over (I also have to use this method to enable me to run the Llangollen route), perhaps someone more knowledgeable will comment.
Anyway give it try, it works for me.
