GWR Collet 2251 0-6-0 tender loco

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Thanks, again, for all the comments :)

Rob, I've noticed that in the last few models I've made, that visible wheelslip has suddenly become possible. I can't believe that it's something I've done, so guess it's something that was introduced with mk 2 upgrade.

Ant, a black version is planned.

Absolutely superb job Kev! Not only a GW loco at last, but exactly the loco I needed for my latest incarnation of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton railway. Looking forward to the BR variant.

This is now my favourite loco in RS. Many Thanks to KevMT!

I thought i was imagining it when i had it slipping, though several tests confirmed it definitely was. A Great loco which enhances the S&D line as well as the GWML (didcot!) as well as looking great on my little play around route round weston-s-mare and into the mendips.
Currently recreating Salisbury to Exeter 50s/60s.
almost all yard, trackwork, scenery and signalling complete salisbury - wilton. Trackwork 2013 standard to Gillingham, Older beyond. - Abandoned due to newer tools in subsequent TS versions.

Wow, looks brillant, I think i will be renewing my Preimium subscriton, the 2251 will look good/ suit my route, especially since most the stock is now Chocolate and Cream.

Chris.
Rising Storm -Name is in the credits :D - To Do scenario, where you go along at 50mph in a Pendo? Who would play it?
Anyone want to help in Play Testing future Rising Storm/ Ro2 Maps? If so please PM me.

Kev, if you're still undecided about numbers, 2251 class Nos 2219, 3210, 3215, 3216 and 3218 were allocated to the S&D at Templecombe from 1960.

Re: GWR Collet Wheelslip

Post by RussellW »

Kevin,

Congratulations on a superb model. The wheelslip comes <this> close to making it perfect. IF ONLY the chuff sound matched. Unfortunately, from reading the Audio and Steam Loco Blueprints, it seems that the wheel rotation speed is not available as a <controller> for the chuff sound. Can you imagine the effect if the chuff matched the wheelspin? I assume you have already approached Messrs Derek and Adam about this? After that, the <only> element missing from the full house effect would be the steam exhaust puff frequency also matching the wheel rotation (locked to piston motion).

Everyone stop and close your eyes and imagine: wheels and exhaust - look and sound all in perfect harmony! WOW! Those were the days.

Is anyone going to own up how come the wheels <do> slip?

Well done,

Russell

If you own Trainz Classics UK you don't need to imagine it. Even MSTS does a better job. Steam and sound effects are one of the most disappointing areas of RS for me, along with the unconvincing driving experience. Still, good to find there's scope for improvement.

Excellent work again Kevin. Just what would we do without you and all the other Developers contributing to this Simulator. Your work continues to amaze me and gives so much pleasure to all.
Thanks
Kind Regards James.

Thanks, for all the great comments. It's always appreciated :)

Thanks for the info, longbow. Maybe I will do one version of loco, with just S&D numbering.

Look forward to downloading the scenario, Mark :)

Kevin
