DT MK1s

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

The Maroon version is currently in the paint shop, and looking good (Check the website for a WIP), however it still retains the same level of weathering, something we will change before release.

I can say that the loco won't be the A4, or the 4MT. Sorry and all that. I can't actually tell you what the loco is, as I want it to be a surprise. However, I do like to tease, and so I'll give you all a clue. The loco we plan to release is the only one we've made that doesn't survive in preservation. If you get it, keep it quiet, please.

Hmmm how about a Vep Cig for us 3rd rail lovers? :D

Now theres an idea, although a CEP would be easier as all you would need to do to the model is add traction motors and cut windows in the front and add some brake pipes and a headcode box and of course the shoe gear.

A 3rd rail EMU would be grand. Just a thought on the mark 1s - Weren't the coach ends blue on the blue/grey livery and black on the maroon.

Couple of questions -
1 - Are there any plans for Mk1 sleepers?
2 - Any chance you will produce the FO, RBR & BCK in Intercity Charter livery?
And finally, how easy is it to delete the M before the vehicle number?

The ends were blue from a later date, my data tells me they were initially black, though, of course, it could just be dirt and shadows. We do plan MK1 sleepers, but the day coaches will be done first. The coaches will also appear in IC liveries, but after the steam era liveries (I need something for my steamers to haul, thankyou). The M prefix is just part of the main texture, you can paint over it if you can open the texture.

EMUs have crossed my mind. However, there are numerous changes internal and external, so unfortunately, we can't do EMUs without someone else coming on board and working on them and other projects. As nobody was forthcoming to the competition I posted, we can assume nobody will, so EMUs will remain at the bottom of the pile for a considerable time.

We have RS adems work but thats about it for Emus.

No massive gap on steam though as per useral.... :o

Since it's probably going to be confusing having two threads with identical titles discussing the same topic, I've merged these two threads.

I think I might have it too. Perfect for pulling maroon coaches (I hope).

Originally, there was talk of packs of two or more locomotives but am I right in thinking that they will now be released individually? No problem if that's the case.

Unfortunately, things have taken us rather longer than we thought, so locos will now be seperate, yes, though we may do packs in the future.

Still two locos, but since the second hasn't been shown yet, I can't think of a clever way to tease you all!

I've noticed that Olympic has not been included in the new download section. Has she been withdrawn for extra work or was she a limited edition for the Olympics? I sent DT an email and received no reply, but my mail client was misbehaving so it's likely that it (or the reply) didn't get through.

I also notice there's no Cinder Lane route. I already have this but it seems a shame to remove it because it's a charming layout that is ideal for anyone just getting into RS. It just needs to be an rpk file to simplify installation, as does Olympic.

I know one or two people who would like Olympic and Cinder Lane. Although they were originally freeware downloads I'd like to check whether it would be alright for me to send copies to other people.

It's good to see some quality releases from DT after looking at some fabulous teasers for months. Let's hope the momentum doesn't wane.

Edit PS:- What price are you considering for your mystery loco? Would it be £9.99 or 2p?

Olympic is by G0fthick, we'll be reuploading shortly. Cinder Lane will be back soon as well, I have heard mutterings about extensions and whatnot, but in the meantime, feel free to share both, they are freeware and will remain thus. Regards pricing of the locos to be released...I think you're spot on with the lower price, indeed...though the other one will cost you one and a tanner. (If you can work that one out, hats off to you).
