My Steam Effects

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

My Steam Effects

Post by adburgess1992 »

Hello everyone

I recently realeased another version of my smoke effects and i have recieved alot emails saying the smoke doesnt show up.
If you did download the smoke effects and it does work i still recommend your download the update.

I have now fixed this problem and overwited the original file but it may not be on UKTS for a day or two.
(There was a small problem in the XML it should now be fixed.)

If your wont it now you can also get here. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ssivnm

Thanks for the corrected XML file. Having downloaded, from your given link, and installed your corrected files it now works for me.
Best regards

Hi - still doesn't work for me, makes my engines disappear - all I see is the tender and the front coupling!

Is it likely to be anything to do with what detail settings are applied to the application?

Hmmmm... I had the steam locos disappearing on me, with the first and 2nd versions, and I felt the ReadMe wasn't entirely clear, nor was it saying enough to ensure you got things right without fail, and maybe, just maybe, an auto-installer would assist a lot of us "Bozos". I feel that some folks might overwrite the original Particles folder if not warned about it, as I did, and I think the missing loco bodies are because the Textures folder in the original Particles folder, may have been removed somehow, if you overwrite the original, and not do as I attempted this time - that was to copy all the files in the downloaded Particles folder, to the original Particles folder, and used PakDelete to remove all the .Pak files before re-starting KRS, and sure enough, the steamers were still there on my yard track this time round. But I agree, the "black dot" (or darker grey ball-shaped bit of smoke just above the funnel) doesn't look too impressive, and I'd certainly appreciate having it removed, and perhaps the smoke could be made to appear more like the rather nice Britannia-type steamer, but not quite so high-reaching perhaps, and wider near the top maybe. I appreciate that smoke on a modelled steamer, can be rather tricky to get right, but when it's near to perfect, it looks really nice !

Regards...

Can we see how the plume looks when at a standstill please. Must say it looks a big improvement in motion. Good work.
