Things are starting to pick up a little bit now for Rail Simulator but it will take time.
Two routes that I miss from MSTS are Lydbrook Junction and Westvale.

Yes you are right, while i'd love to go out and get upgrades for my PC and play Rail Sim the way it was intended, I think a better choice right now would be to play MSTS and the added bonus is that it has a lot of support and routes which Rail Sim doesen't have yet. Sure Rail Sim is getting more and more routes but as you say, MSTS has lots of routes and at least with MSTS I know it will work on my new PC and possibly even on my old PC.
