Hmmmmm the wagon packs are available :)

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Nice that modellers are working hard but I'd like to ask when can we expect improved and bugfixed game engine? When can I reinstall my copy of RS and start to buy those add-ons? In current state its totally pointless.
I start to buy Your addons when:
1. Locomotives light beams are existing and driving possible at nighttime
2. Dispatching and signalling system allows us to make advanced scenarios without thousands of limits
3. Turntables can be used in scenarios
4. Camera positions will be saved (at least outer views 2, 3 like in MSTS)
5. Sound system totally improved (currently extremely unrealistic)
6. Train physics improved at least to normal level (electric AI locos don't accelerate like rockets)
7. Some elementary flexibility - it's stupid passangers are already sitting in carriages when leaving depot
8. Fully functioning AI
9. Minimized stutter
I even don't want to mention superelevation or improvements in passanger loading (passangers entering to carriages). In current state RS is just a program for railway modelling enthusiasts. It's not simulator. In terms of traffic (for scenario makers) it provides nothing. RSD is thinking only about how to sell addon models while program is totally unfinished and poor. There are hundreds of developers who can make models for RS but only RSD can improve the program. Unfortunately it seems that the sorting out problems and improving the program is the last thing they want to do (or are able to do ... no difference). At least the outcome looks exactly like this.
I know what follows now - I'm an old whiner and don't have any "constructive criticism" and so on. You can think so who can prevent. But reality is - I'm still running MSTS instead of RS and will run until RS's biggest problems are fixed. I know there are thousands of people thinking like me - they just left those forums after been' bashed by "blonde boys" and You can't hear they voice. But message is clear and understandable - make the program working normal way and You can win those users back.

I think you have some good points.. Though perhaps for a different thread.. I too (in my cynical mind) am begining to wonder why so much stuff is being pushed for sale (could be before a certain other sim arrives) without much mention of the next patch and what it will do, its not stoppin me fully enjoying it at the moment (to the best of its abilities though).

I do like this sim and have supported it a lot.. I certainly think its a visual push up and that is needed in 2008, however some things (mentioned to often to bother repeating) do need sorting..

Whilst its wonderful to see all this new stuff finaly appearing (and I except it may be payware because the work involved is now much higher than MSTS days) I am beginnning to hold back from buying now because of that cynical thought, will it be patched.

Then again to flip the coin this might be as good as it gets and MSTS2 might be an total disaster.. In which case I think we will be looking at a new way of seeing Railsims, "the stand alone product"

But question is ... when??? One year after the release of the product we have still nothing. Yes I have enjoyed some thing RS can provide too ... especially wonderful 3D cabs, nice steam locos and great german loco models. But thats all. Everything else is below the every expectation. I don't understand how can people enjoy product so poorly done. Good models is only around 10% of joy simulator game can provide. 90% consists of train physics, sound management and don't forget most important - functionality (traffic). The purpose of the simulator has to be simulation of railroad traffic. If You can't even build up simplest shunting scenario (crossing over main line) without AI crashing what are we talking about?
Is it right place or not for this comment no matter ... question stay active - when??? RSD Adam once stated that they don't give out any information about what exactly will be patched and when. This just confirms that RSD team don't have any will and resources to fix and improve they product. At least it seems to be so. We waited over half year for the 2nd patch ... and what we got? RSD have got huge load of troubles from Kuju and now tries to sell as much addons as possible ... until MSTS 2 hits the market. Why to waste money for development of the program if it's much easie and more profitable to just sell addons for the poor program they never decided to make any better? That's the logic here. And everybody buying addons before problems been fixed helps them to realise such a smart bussiness plan. Keep that in mind. Things have changed after Microsoft announced MSTS 2. Why KUJU dropped the product? Think about it.

I just reinstalled RS, and I'm using Vista 64.

Thanks,

Perhaps a stupid question, have you installed the update Mk2?

hi, anyone else have a problem with the uk wagon pack, just ran 2 of the scenarios, Wagon Swap and Cement Duty, on both scenarios i found that with the wagons connected to the train while slowing down if i release the brakes the train speeds back up about 5mph, i haven't seen this problem in rail sim before, i can actually speed the train up quicker this way than i can with the throttle,

cheers

hi, not sure what you mean by fail, scenarios loaded and completed ok, but some speeding offences, slowed for a 20mph limit, timed just right, released the brakes as i hit 20mph just as the limit started, just to shoot back upto 25mph

cheers

Hi
Please forgive me for going off topic a bit! but i wanted to try to clarify some things here.
The fact is RSDL MUST release addons as this is the only way that the sim can be continued to develop,in other words its the bread and butter of the project,so if you would like RSDL to go forward then the, more who buy the addons the better, Because this puts money back into development .
we are so lucky with RSDL because it is being supported by the developers who are not only in touch with the members in this community, they are members themselves.
I have bought all the RSDL addons,1.because they are very good,2.because the money will be put back into the product,IMHO the more addons the better.
I know KRS has its problems one year on,but please remember MSTS1 is still flawed 7 years on because of the sell it and forget it attitude by its creators,so we have a lot to be thankfull for.

I didn't get the problem either - but I did notice a nice 1 in 76 downhill gradient just after the 20mph limit. :o
