Hi Derek
Is there any particular reason why the individual trees in the new Foliage pack won't rotate as per the default and IoW trees? I wanted to rotate trees where I have more than one planted to break up the uniform appearance but they won't budge!
Thanks...

Re: Foliage Pack - question for Derek!
The trees in the pack are flat and rotate around their own axis as the player moves so do indeed work differently to other earlier versions. I have found it a very clever method and should need less resources to display.
How about using a mixture of trees from the new pack and the IOW?

Hi BP
Yep that's what I'm trying to do. Thanks for the explanation, I'll stick to IoW for the "close ups" and the new pack for mid/distant. The new pack tree clusters do work extremely well on large areas.

Re: Foliage Pack - question for Derek!
Hi, beat me too it.
One of the reasons I changed the way we did it was because I did not like the effect the crusiform trees gave. If you look at them from a certain angle they look blurry, the other is that they only use 1 polygon.
The new ones always face the player so you never get that problem. However like you say they all look the same if you place lots of the same type down. My suggestion would be to mix them up with the bigger groups and tree lines.
regards
Derek

Thanks Derek,
I'm using the new trees for mid and distance work and focusing on the IoW trees for lineside. The combo works well - I've been able to cover large swathes with the groups without impacting on fps. I'll try to get some screenshots up later...
