Blurred locos

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

setting anisotropic filtering to higher values in your graphic drivers should help here. that blur is not caused by the game itself.

If you've got an Nvidia card try forcing the Anisotropic texture filtering in Manage 3D settings ,in the Nvidia control panel ,that should help or clear it up - I've got mine set at 16x for rail Simulator in the program manager section , and everything looks fine at any angle.

Thanks for the replies chaps - I've got a ati 3870, which I believe isn't too hot at anisotropic filtering. Will have a mess about in the Catalyst control centre and see what happens.

Just found it odd that it only effected the locos.

Cheers, Sq.

I don't see why the 3870 would have any problems at all with anisotropic filtering. My old X1950 was fine with 8x anisotropic filtering and my new 4870 positively flys along with 16x. Even 4x should significantly help with this issue, but I'd suggest cranking it all the way up and then back off if you find you need to.

Well this is as sharp as i can get mine to go. I am not sure if its possible to get it to go even sharper as my screen is at 1280 x 1024.

Yeah, you're right, doesn't seem to any problem at all at x16. Must've been thinking about something else. How are you liking your 4870? Thinking about getting one next upgrade time, but there seems to be an opinion that the 260/280 nvidia cards are better for RS.

Anyhoo, attached screenie of it with x16 filtering on, as you can see, it's miles better. Ta for everyone help.
