GSWR Footbridges

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

GSWR Footbridges

Post by moranb »

In case they may be of interest, I have uploaded double and triple track versions of the standard GSWR Footbridge which can still be seen at many stations throughout Ireland. Although they are gradually being replaced by disabled accessible footbridges - a good thing - some of them are happily being preserved. I have made these for my Dublin-Cork route, but I think they are not dissimilar to those used in the UK. Note: It does not snow much in Ireland so I have not made a winter version of the footbridges or for that mater othere assets for the route as yet. Perhaps a task for the future!

While the assets I am making are specific to the Dublin - Cork railway, I will gradually upload those that may be of more general interest such as bridges and buildings.

Thanks for the upload. Very attractive bridges that look better than the default offerings.

I'm sure I've seen this style of footbridge on other railway systems, especially in Scotland.
From memory, it reminds me of the bridge at Pitlochry Station.

Yes, thanks for those nice footbridges....just what we needed! I notice the default brick arch bridge has been reskinned to grey, that would be a very nice asset to have, hope your thinking of releasing that as well! :)
Thanks again!

I would be happy to up-load the reskin of the RS brick bridge if RS have no objection. The rules about up-loading files state that I need to have the agreement of the owner of the model before uploading.

'RSDL do not have an issue with you reskinning the platforms and sharing them.
There are many source files we will be making public over the coming months, platforms are one of them.

regards

Derek'

I came across this posting when I was looking for information about RS policy on up-loading re-skins of scenery assets. I presume that this policy applies generally to re-skins. In that case I will up-load the reskin of the brick bridge in the next few days.

Brendan,

Thanks for the upload! Unfortunately the bridge surface texture is missing. I copied the 2 BridgeSurface texture files from C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\scenery\Structures\Textures\ to the corresponding folder at C:\Program Files\Rail Simulator\Assets\Brendan\IrishRail\Scenery\Structures\Textures and it then worked fine. Can you redo the package??

Thanks
Nick

Hi Brendan,
Just to add my word of thanks for uploading your Irish footbridges and the granite bridge.
I have just started building a completely new route, starting off with a representation of Enniskillen GNR station, so any Irish assets at all that you upload will be very very welcome. I'm using the S & D J and Caledonian blue 4-4-0s to represent GNR trains at the moment, but I'm stuck to know what to use on the Sligo Leitrim & Northern Counties line!
regards Ted.

I repackaged the upload so it should be OK now.
