MK2 coach uploads

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Just to point out 1 minor thing. The download of the virgin coaches etc the zip file has no copyright statement in the zip file download. However, thats no excuse for someone to reupload the file to their own website without your permission. Its proably worth adding the copyright statement to it anyway.

Cheers

Edit : added the word "your" :)

What a pity this has happened, imo DT is absolutely not at fault here, however mistakes have been made, perhaps Chris should make a de-facto statement publicly on his site requiring any re-skinners who upload content to indeed get permission first from the content owners and to prove it before an upload is permitted. I personally have purchased this great addon and will continue to support commercial content makers whenever funds allow :D

Chris, apology accepted. Tazman, I was told when the coaches were packaged that a copywrite statement was included, we'll certainly have to look into this in future.

This is very sad and I think it's true to say that, to some people, the challenge of ripping through copy-protection is more fun than the game itself.

I like to think that there are more honest people about than is often assumed. It's just that they are silent and are often overlooked until sometimes they make mistakes, as appears to have happened here.

I for one am grateful for DT's free downloads and I will certainly buy the steam and diesel packs I'm waiting for, regardless of who might be offering unauthorised versions for whatever reason.

Just a thought though, I think it's incorrect (and depressing) to assume that every unauthorised installation represents a lost sale, because many of these people would not have made the purchase anyway.

I hope DT will continue their good work and not become bogged-down with all this negativity. They have good customers out there waiting to support them. True?

Hi,
What has happened has made me more determined to support D.T. in any of it's products both free and payware. It is a sad fact that today that people are willing to take advantage of a Company that works with goodwill for our benefit.
D.T. is not at fault here. They have the Law completely on their side as pointed out by our Moderator. The owners of the site involved need to be more careful. Not knowing or checking what is on your site is IMHO negligence and shows a lack of understanding of the laws that apply to websites in general.
