Fix for missing track is out

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Retro wrote:Tried that John. It will only accept association to the original PM. That shows up in the program listing as a basic Icon with a space. If I do the same with the new PM it does not show and therefore can't be associated if I try to double click it just launches the Spybot scanner because the new version automatically checks unassociated files.
Have installed the fixes by launching the PM first and locating the RPK file. Not as simple as just double clicking but it works OK.
Thanks and Regards James.
James I found these links that might help fix the file association if you feel like trying.

No luck after trying suggestions from links. I can now associate the file but it will not open on Double Click. I have cleared references to the old PM from the registry but the new PM is still called PackageManager. The only other way is to put back the old folder with the old PM and uninstall that using it's own uninstaller. Not sure what the result would be however.

Retro try this i assume your having the problem of installing the new content fixes in Package manager

Go to Rail Simulator assets file in the RS file

Then right click on the mouse and go down and click Properties

then under Attributes you will see a Read Only box which should have green in a square box, click on the read only box so that the green disappears

then press apply and apply the changes to Folders, Subfolders and Files and press ok then wait as it completes this order.

Now try and install the content fixes again

Thanks Ben but that problem has been sorted. The shots are from the old PM which I have removed. The New PM MK2 has installed all the fixes without problem. I am trying to get this new one to work like the old one did so when I double click on an RPK file it opens the new PM but to no avail.
Thanks for your reply.

Just wondering how many people out there are still using the old PM without realising and it is working because all files are Read/Write.
The new one is supposed to have additional features to stop File corruptions getting packaged I think.

Hi, if you are still trying to get the files to go with the new package manager - use shift and right click to get the context menu which now should have an open with option - click this and go to the choose default programme option, use the browse button in the window to point to the new package manager. Make sure the always use this program box is ticked, click OK and next time you double click an RPK it should use this programme.
Hope this sorts it

Or perhaps download the updated ( separate ) package manager from RSDL and install that. Maybe that will fix the association.

The way I did it was download the new PM from RS website, copied and pasted it into Packager folder choosing to overwrite the last version. I now have 2 new PM's in two seperate folders but hey ho it works and has no problem with finmding it to ascociate them.

Maybe it may work with yours if you still have the old one installed that is.

Have done that Michael and placed the new PM in the original folder overwriting the old version after putting the folder back in place and it associates and opens on Double Click.
Thanks and Regards James.
